Romney: Individual Mandate ‘Was a Conservative Concept’ (Romney smears conservatives)
National Review ^ | 2011-11-21 | Katrina Trinko

In a testy debate exchange last month, Mitt Romney reminded Newt Gingrich that he had backed the individual mandate previously. Now, with Gingrich surging in the polls to frontrunner status, Romney is reminding the electorate about Gingrich’s record on health-care.

“Don’t forget, this health care plan was something we learned about from the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank,” Romney said on Fox News Channel’s Hannity in an interview to be aired tonight. “Even Newt Gingrich supported the idea of an individual mandate, insisting on personal responsibility.”

“Now, what we did isn’t perfect,” Romney added. “Some parts of it worked, some didn’t, some things I would change. But it’s not like it’s a liberal idea. It was a conservative concept.”

There is nothing conservative about it.

No, Obama is the worst ever. I will do everything I legally can to make sure Obama is defeated in 2012.

Right Mitt. Forcing people at the point of a Government gun to buy something they don’t want is exactly what Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and Madison intended.

May the Mods pardon me for what I am about to say.

F*** you and the horse you rode in on Governor.

Romney is an ass. There is nothing conservative about government force. He’s a useful idiot.

I share your utter frustation about having to listen to the three stooge RINOs make up history as they go—they’re own and America’s. I’m talking about Gingrich, Romney and Perry.

Sometimes I must work really hard to keep my remarks within the bounds of civility.

Mitt's right that, at one time, mandatory health insurance was popular in many circles on the right. I'll admit to having been in favor of it some 10 years ago. All that said, I was wrong and so were all those circles on the right.

At one time in my life, I took the draft for granted and thought it was right, too. Most of the country accepted it, but never would, now. Neither, would I. There is a conservative revolution in progress. Our thinking is changing and Mitt is behind the curve. So is Newt, he's just a day ahead of Mitt.

Kind of like the Hindenburg. I heard the food and wine onboard was first rate. Service impeccable. Just one little bitty flaw...

At least the Constitution gives the Congress the authority to raise and support armies.
