President Obama Monday evening blamed Republicans for the failure of the super committee to meet its deadline for a debt plan and warned that he will veto any attempt to eliminate the automatic spending cuts that go into effect with that failure.
In an appearance in the White House briefing room a little more than an hour after the committee officially conceded failure, the president said his answer to those who want to eliminate those cuts is simple: No. I will veto any effort to get rid of those automatic spending cuts to domestic and defense spending. There will be no easy off-ramps on this one.
He added, We need to keep the pressure up to compromise, not the turn off the pressure.
Seem's to me, the "ass" should be the Republican's mascot. The Democrats true "logo" should be the hammer and sickle.
Let him.
So, nuclear weapopns, ICBMs, subs, aircraft and their carriers, ammo, night vision goggles or vests?
Or do we gut the CIA, SigInt, or paper?
oh. Hmmmmm. CIA. Never mind.
Follow Obama’s logic, if you can.
The Republicans on the Super Committee wanted more spending cuts.
The Democrats on the Committee wanted more tax increases and less spending cuts.
So, who is Obama attacking for wanting to eliminate the automatic spending cuts in the bill?
That’s right, the Republicans.
He’s such a Brainiac.
After all, it’s only the destruction of our national defense
Lets make sure the people understood this travesty was sustained by a democrat president, regardless of what his lying purple lips are saying
This is his problem and he knows it. It is happening just the way he wanted it to, but the one thing he didn’t count on, and the thing that makes him most mad, was that he has no support - not from the media and not even from the mainstream in his party. So his gambit fails and he looks bad for it. Even Chris “tingling leg” Matthews can see it happening. He pushes policies without any reason. He can’t even justify what he is asking for. He just wants it because his politics dictates that it should be that way. Worst President Ever.
One, there’s no cuts.
And two, the reductions in spending increases, i.e. the increases but a little bit less, don’t go into affect until 2013.
So keep the non-existent pressure on, Barry.
Amen brother!
Super Commitee my butt!!! Dang Politicians couldn't find their own as@ without four aides and 6 Latte's! Maybe it's time for them to join my squad!! Betcha they would earn their pay...or be eating lots of dirt!!!
Just another piece of Obama’s plan to destroy America by any means.
The Defense budget in 1976 was $283.8B. The Defense budget in 1980 was $303.4B. You call that gutting? You MUST be from inside the beltway, Friend.
Mr. tax and spend wants to keep spending so he will keep taxing, taxing. Someone must pay for another vacation.
???
Wow... Ubanga is giving a warning to his own partry of big government spenders?!
You know it must be campaign time!
Anyway, I guess this means the government is going to have to learn to live with the 16% increase in spending it will be left with.
Sigh.
Secretary of Defense should resign immediately, the cuts to the DOD are unconsciounable, in a time of war. In fact the Penetta said “additional cuts would erode national security and even lead to war, encouraging America’s enemies to attack”. The Constitution requires that the government provide for the department of defense it says nothing about WELFARE, Social Security, MEDICARE, FOOD STAMPS, STUDENT LOANS, and other socialist programs that the Liberals have been bribing the electorate with for years. It is time now to stand up to this arrogant American destorying liberal once and for all......
We’ll still be spending in the neighborhood of $700B a year on defense. We’re not exactly “destroying” national defense.
I’m tired of borrowing Chinese money. I’m tired of defending Europe. I’m tired of defending Japan. I’m tired of whatever it is we’re doing in Afghanistan. We’re broke. No sacred cows. Cut everything.
Nope, I was in the Army from 1978 to 1983. I know that there was a HUGE difference between the Carter and Reagan administrations, FRiend.
Just posting facts Friend. You can refute them all you want. Maybe the defense budget didn’t go up under Carter, but it was hardly gutted. If you want to find FACTS that refute that, go ahead.
I hope that Obama actually does veto a bill that would avoid gutting the defense department. It will make a wonderful campaign issue for the the Republicans. “Obama acts to destroy Defense Department.”
Yeah, everything was smooth sailing under President Carter...
