he president of the University of California system said he was "appalled" at images of protesters being doused with pepper spray and plans an assessment of law enforcement procedures on all 10 campuses, as two police officers and the police chief were placed on administrative leave.
"Free speech is part of the DNA of this university, and non-violent protest has long been central to our history," UC President Mark G. Yudof said in a statement Sunday in response to the spraying of students sitting passively at UC Davis. "It is a value we must protect with vigilance."
Yudof said it was not his intention to "micromanage our campus police forces," but he said all 10 chancellors would convene soon for a discussion "about how to ensure proportional law enforcement response to non-violent protest."

Also did anyone notice the end of the video where the protesters imply violence against the police when they demand they leave and that they will provide them with "a moment of peace" to do so? That was the most chilling part for me... watching the police cower and back away slowly.
Next time they’ll just have to use feathers as the protesters continue to use more aggressive tactics.
You have to pay to play wittle chilren!
The foggers aren’t quite as good as the direct stream models.
But - if the panty waist “chancellors” (or whatever the “F” they call themselves these days) needed physical protection for some reason - no measure would be too harsh. You can count on *that*.
I wonder what this police department’s policy (and/or the local law in this area) says about using pepper spray against “passive resistance.” Some departments/municipalities allow it, others (including the NYPD, for example) prohibit it.
Too bad he wasn't "appalled" at the behavior of his students.
Close the communist preaching Universities of California!
They were rotten to the core in the 50s and deteriorated from there!
The cops have used billy clubs here for 180 years, conking uncooperative jerks on their heads. Ahhh! I still remember that sound of a hardwood [not plastic] billy club colliding with a numbskull. It still is the legally court-approved first weapon of choice for breaking up unruly mobs and drunken bar brawls here in the mountains.
I see everyone was wearing coats. It would have worked better to use a fire hose to clean the filth off the street. Nothing like being soaking wet in 45 degree weather.
So the police is supposed to do what? Let the trashbaggers break the law, and do nothing? Bribe them to leave? Play musical chairs with them?

When the University President’s house or office gets occupied, there should be a sudden outbreak of blue flu.
These were University of California campus police (as opposed to a municipal police force) which means they take orders from an unelected administration bureaucracy. I have a feeling that 'official policy' in these matters is whatever the 'chancellor' decides it should be, and subject to change retroactively.
All funded with taxpayer dollars of course.
First shoot all the reporters, lawyers, and then the protestors.....with pepper spray that is. lol . This movement is designed to NEVER END, until we get a Muslim Brotherhood or its equivalent in America into power. May as well start now, the only other option is to cede the streets to these punks.
Which is why the students have become accustomed to ignoring the administration.
They’re just lucky that’s all that happened to them. Idiots. What, break the law and get fresh from the oven chocolate chip cookies? The cops deserved medals.
