Just days after being confronted by a conservative blogger over his supposed net worth, filmmaker Michael Moore took similar questions from a local CBS reporter at the Occupy Denver protest, with markedly different results. Rather than ignore CBS-4 reporter Evrod Cassimy, Moore engaged him. When Cassimy brought up Moores rumored $50 million net worth, though, Moore called him punk media, pulled him close, and growled, You lie!
The confrontation made for much better video than the previous one, and Moore initially handled the reporters questions well, admitting, I do very well, and adding, Because I do well, I want taxes raised on people who do well, including mine.
When Cassimy pressed Moore about his specific net worth, however, Moore became visibly angry. He told the reporter, I dont have $50 million, and Cassimy gave Moore an opening, saying, Thats what its rumored you are worth.
Well, really Moore said, Is that what you do is sell rumors?
Were asking you for the truth, Cassimy replied.
Moore then put his hand on the reporters shoulder, shaking him as he said, Youre just punk media is all you are.
You lie, he continued, a slight growl in his voice. You lie to people. Stop lying to people. Stop lying.
Mr. Cassimy left himself open for Moores criticism by citing rumors, rather than reports, but Michael Moore really ought to do better at engaging this question. Hes got compelling answers, and even though the premise itself is silly, confronting it head on is a surer way to gain converts than scenes like this, which make it appear as though critics of Moores wealth have got his number.
There are lots of mega-bucks celebrities who have shown up to support the Occupy protests, and recent polls show that most millionaires support raising taxes on millionaires. You can, apparently, be rich and believe in fairness, simultaneously. Moore can, and does, also argue that he takes his earnings and puts them back into making more films. His wealth, then, is a tool to combat wealth inequality.
According to virtual globetrotting, this is Michael Moore's house...at least one of them.

Damn, I bet that leaves a big carbon footprint. I wonder how many homeless people and Occupy folk he allows on that land.
see my post above. Pic of MM’s house.
Let’s pretend instead that a GM exec had growled, placed his hand on Mr. Moore’s shoulder and then pulled him around a bit:
What would Mr. Moore do....?
The question is silly because we all know.
Does Moore have a CPA do his taxes?
If so why?
Moore is probably right on this one.
His movies have made hundreds of millions of dollars collectively.
He’s probably worth more than 50 million dollars, when you include that much of his net worth is probably invested.
Unless, of course, he choose to invest with MF Global.
He has chutzpah, not balls. For that matter, he has a gut, but he doesn't have guts.
Big Mikey calling a black reporter “punk media”?
Imagine if any CONSERVATIVE did such a thing.
I just watched Evrod this morning. No mention of this incident.
sue him for assault and lets find out his real net worth (and who is lying)
Why doesn’t he release his income taxes if he wants to promote tax increases? Let’s see what a fat hypocrite he is.
Pray for America
Nothing stops Moore from donating a big fat portion of his money to the government, to a local school, a children’s program, a church, a local theater, a local slaughterhouse. Oh, never mind the slaughterhouse. They will want his jowls for the bacon. And I believe he is worth 50 mil.

Michael Moore is a con man, a poverty pimp. He is a capitalist who makes a lot of money making movies about how unfair it is for people to make a lot of money.
What´s stopping him from paying more?
Exactly. Those evil capitalists make money off the poor then stash it at their homes, leaving the rest of the world poor and destitute.
It's only people the likes of Michael Moore, spreading communism throughout the world by using his wealth to make more movies thereby "combating wealth inequality", that are the true saviors of the proletariat.
THAT is called C.A.P.I.T.A.L.I.S.M., you punk-a$$ idiot; what Moore and his groupies are supposedly against.
Sheesh!
Uh, no, it isn't. Using the surplus from one economic activity to fund another economic activity is the definition of capitalism. Claiming that profit is evil while taking it, and excusing it by claiming that it is used to fight evil, is hypocrisy.
I would like someone to ask him if he would allow these poor out of work people to live in his Mansion
