Cain defies political odds as campaign stands strong
The Hill ^ | 18 November 2011 | Justin Sink

Herman Cain has defied the political odds so far in the face of campaign adversity, and it looks as if he has the GOP’s conservative base to thank for it.

The last month of Cain’s presidential campaign has read like a textbook for how to doom a candidacy: having to deny allegations of sexual harassment, bungling important foreign-policy questions while saying he’s not “supposed to know anything” on the subject, releasing a bizarre Web ad and canceling an editorial board meeting with a key New Hampshire newspaper.

And yet, in an Iowa State University poll released Thursday, the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO remains the top choice of voters in the state, garnering nearly a quarter of voters. A Bloomberg News poll on Tuesday found him locked in a four-way tie for first among Iowa voters. He’s also maintained his top-tier status in most national polls and is fundraising at a record pace...

Well, I wasn’t arguing with you. Just posting a concurrance.

Conservatism just works as a way to live your life that is superior to other ways, and works just as well for white people as for anyone else.

If black people, hispanic people want to give themselves and their kids a head start in life, you want to be as conservative as possible.

Laura Ingraham is really annoying as she rips Cain on a daily basis. GO HERMAN!

Her sister-in-rinoism Ann Coulter is worse.

The left fears Cain, one reason being if Cain is the nominee, they lose a lot of impact of the race card. As a natter of fact the left fears all the viable candidates except Romney. Their boy Obama is going down and I hope it's Cain that brings him down.

I do not denigrate any of the republican candidates except Romney. Paul and Huntsman aren't worth the effort.

“..Well, I wasn’t arguing with you...”

Didn’t think you were, actually. But thanks.

I know some black and hispanic folks who are as conservative as I am, and they didn’t vote for Obama (these folks are coworkers of mine, retired military, and dear friends). You wouldn’t believe the bullshit they put up with from family and others about not voting for Obi.

Spot on

I can believe it. I have a disability, and it’s similar for us. Anyone who actually rejects disability benefits to which they are entitled is shunned by the entire ‘industry’, because I am demonstrating that I don’t need them. If I don’t need them, then perhaps the rest of the disabled folks don’t either.

And believe me, the whole disability industry is a huge backer of the O.

“the pundits want Obama out more than anything.”

I am not sure that is really true. I believe that they may want to keep a non-establishment conservative out even more than they want to defeat Obama.

If conservatives don't take over the party through committee chairmanship, and eventual leadership, this crap will continue.

It took Reagan several tries before he succeeded, and he was lots better than the current crop of candidates. I still have hope, but ain't holding my breath either.

We have a lot of work to do...

Just as the other side has been so thoroughly organized for the deconstruction of the country, we need to be even MORE organized, committed, and dedicated to wresting it away from them, education folks, and rebuilding it.

We inherited a pretty damned wonderful place to live...I think we owe it to our kids, and to all those excellent Americans who came before us, to set things right.

ANy way we have to.

Fellow Cain supporters, try and see if you can do calling or anything for Iowa. Not you, AIT, for phone calling anyway. Herman needs to momentum he will get from winning Iowa. It will help him win SC.

Herman is a giant middle finger to the left, isn’t he...and they HATE him for it.”

And we love him for it!

” It is an exclusive “club” kind of thing. Cain is not part of that whole scene. A pure outsider. A lot of these “conservative” talking heads on the radio are (in the inner circle, incestuous schmoozers equally with Dems and Repubs). Therein I think lies the gap and loyalties. Some might well want to go back into government, and a Romney Administration would be the clearest land bridge into that effort as well. There are certainly deeper personal interests here at stake. “

And another thing? Where are all those loudmouthed (through third parties or one in person) accusatory women who came out of the woodwork two weeks ago?

They have been beaten back with the truth, Team Cain going on blue ribbon, legal offense/threatening hardball-mode, and (the skanks and slick ambulance-chasing, false witness-bearing lawyers and lawyresses) are now in heightened Defcon 3 fear of a backfire on them or are probably under legal counsel to zip it for the time being.

It's over. Herman Won. This will make Libs' heads explode since they will be forced to FIGHT ON THE ISSUES WHICH THEY CANNOT WIN IN 2012 IN NEARLY EVERY POLL.

Now the MSM's only weapon left is to make Threat Number One Herman Cain look like an idiot. They will necessarily have to go full throttle ad hominem. Also, be most assured they more than likely now have a DNC sycophant operative/free lancer or "oppos" staff person with a cell phone following Cain around, and another person would ostensibly try to taunt Cain to make him lose his cool on tape. This will then be picked up by video, In and of itself it won't amount to ANYTHING, but the Whambulance Media will not get off it 24/7 but will megaphone it to death to try to drub him from the race. Like they did to Sen. George Allen. I believe this is their next move, this "negative branding" and further depressing of "positives" in polls. I swear if I saw a Mutt and Jeff team doing this in a Cain event crowd, acting conspiratorially, and they got Cain angry and were the only ones to get some response on digital video, why I would seize the equipment from their hands and send it crashing will full force to the ground in hundreds of pieces if not a fine silicon powder...arrest or no arrest impending. Watch out for these scumbags. They are out there. They need to be kept at a distance, shadowed and neutralized. They are there with one mission only, dirty tricks ala Dick Tuck or Donald Segretti. Private investigators should come forward to help Herman and filter through those crowds and identify those threats through profiling. It can be done. And when they know it is being done they may well back off when they realize it is a waste of funds to send these provocateurs by separate flights around the country shadowing Mr. Cain. Hear that Campaign?? [I am certainly they have fully assessed this threat matrix and negative narrative being constructed by the Establishments -- not just Demos, some RINOS could be in on it, too.] This man simply MUST NOT REACH THE WHITE HOUSE....in their book.

This (not being a part of the club) was Ronald reagan’s problem. If you have a set, and a set of high standards and values, it’s not a drawback not having friends in DC. As herman told letterman.

A lot of voters on the right cannot stand the Kristols of the world insisting with their smarmy smiles that of course in the end we simply must have Romney as our Nomney.

It has already started, but the people aren’t buying it this time.

I’m one of those voters, and I despise Kristol.

I just finished reading “Throw Them All Out” and it made me ill. The book spells out all the ways our congressmen use their positions to make themselves and their friends and family rich and how they manipulate the system. I don't believe all are guilty of this manipulation themselves but every one of them is guilty of letting it happen. If they don't come out against the abuse they are part of it.

Herman Cain is the only person in this election that we know is not part of this system. In my opinion, he is our only hope.

Did not P.J. O’Rourke have a book out a LONG TIME AGO called something like “Parliament of Whores”? About the Congress? I wonder if it was along the lines of “Throw Them All Out”.

The difference is that “Throw Them All Out” uses names and actual cases of how they have used their positions for their own benefit.

From Nancy Polosi’s IP stock purchases to Schumer threatening hedge fund companies with a tax increase so they would spend more money on lobbyists and, of course, campaign donations. Once they did these two things the tax increase was never mentioned again.

The majority of cases written about were democrats but republicans were not left out. It makes you realize that their job is not to serve their constituents. Their job is to serve themselves and they have to keep their jobs to do that. They have to keep the status quo and keep outsiders out because outsiders might upset the applecart.

According to the book, insider trading is perfectly legal for them. They do not have to recuse themselves from any vote for conflict of interest, and they do not have to release their records to the public like the executive branch does.

They write laws for everyone but themselves and because of it they can get away with things anyone else would serve jail time for. It is absolutely disgusting.

I hope that everyone will read this book. It has made me see things I didn't want to see. I always believed that there were the good guys and bad guys in congress and our hope would be in electing more good guys than bad. What the book made me realize is that they are ALL bad guys because even if they don't abuse the office themselves they let this go on and you never hear a peep from any of them. They are the only ones who can stop it and not one of them is trying.
