The various "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrations around the country declared Thursday to be a "day of action" in the ongoing protest of big banks and Wall Street policies that they blame for a sagging economy.
While thousands protested in Manhattan, Los Angeles and other cities, several hundred people took to the streets of downtown Amherst.
According to video supplied to The Republican by Julie Varney of Amherstwire.com, demonstrators assembled in front of Bank of New England branch at South Pleasant and Amity Streets.
At one point, the footage shows demonstrators storming into the bank lobby to disrupt business. After several moments, demonstrators crossed the street and repeated the action inside TD Bank.
The video concludes with police responding, and protesters marching out of the bank.
Amherst police Thursday night said there was no information about whether anyone was arrested.

I saw three adults in that group. One of them was probably a customer in BOA that happened to be there. One was taking photographs: he may be a reporter.
It’s a bunch of children.
this is what democracy looks like, what storming a bank, closing it down, stopping people form cashing their hard earned checks, and then causing problems in the street.
FRIGGING IDIOTS, they say they’re not attacking the worker there but they did, then they leave when the cops turn up.
Colleges need to be looked at and what is being taught there as well people need to speak up at lazy parents who have let their kids become these commies

Occupy Emily Dickinson´s house....
My daughter went to ZooMass for two years. She couldn’t take the BS anymore. BTW, her boyfriend is a cop on the SWAT team. yes!
Something please occupy their empty craniums. Stinkin hippie commie scum.
To a Marxist, democracy = mob rule.
Banks don’t seem to have armed guards any more, do they?
More’s the pity!
Bingo.
About 12-13 hrs later, two jets that flew out of Logan Airport in Boston flew into the Twin Towers.
Race Bannon and I were on a thread on September 9, 2001 talking about the stunt Traschen was about to pull. Race went to Amherst the next evening and spoke his mind at the Amherst Council meeting.
For some reason, a scene from Fawlty Towers comes to mind. Basil is chewing out an incompetent Irish contractor who keeps saying "If the good Lord . . .'. Basil grabs him by the shirt front and says, "If you say that one more time, I will bring you closer to him."
A closer experience with jail and its denizens, even if only the county lockup, would be salutary - if not for the protesters, at least for the public who have to put up with this crap.
I was looking at the UMass Amherst website and they actually have a, wait for it....Gender-Free Living Option for “Students whose gender identity is in transition or who do not want to identify a gender.” WTF!
Yeah, and allowing flea bitten hippies to storm the branches and threaten the lives of the employees is they way to do it./s
You’re a f*****g idiot.
CEO’s across the country are getting phone calls from the White House “This is what will happen if you fail to support Obama 2012”.
Would anyone doubt it??
Potential bank robbers who would be treated as felons on the spot.
What's wrong with law enforcement these days who cower before them?
Potential bank robbers who do want to identify as bank robbers or terrorists. I think they get their own dorm at UMass Amherst.
I can hardly wait for the DNC convention here in Charlotte, home to two major banks. It should be interesting, to say the least.
Occupy Charlotte consists largely of 8 tents in front of city hall. Cops have arrested them for so much as stepping in the street so far. This town knows what side it’s bread is buttered on.
I predict riots.
Heh, my bank. Just a typical day in Amherst. It took the police a long time to show up. Their headquarters are just two minutes away.
