As OWS was the logical outcome of three years of Obama's fascistic class warfare rhetoric, nationalizing America's most profitable global companies is the logical outcome of the OWS movement. As corporations are not people no one will be hurt as we nationalize. It takes medium-sized cities in Shenzhen and Chengdu for Foxconn to manufacture Apple products in China. (snip) The repatriation of Apple manufacturing infrastructure to the US could create as many as 500,000 positions--all high paying, high quality union jobs--here at home, offsetting by at least a factor twenty-five the jobs lost by the delay of the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline from Alberta, BC to the Gulf of Mexico. (snip) the cost of manufacturing an iPad 2 might double if its production were moved from China to the US. But this difference can be easily offset with no harm to Apple through subsidies awarded to the 99%. Any American in the top 1% of the income distribution will pay the American iPad price while the 99% will enjoy the same price level achieved during the period when Apple manufactured the tablet in China. This two-level price structure can be enforced through a national voucher system administered jointly by the IRS and Department of Commerce. The total cost for the program should not exceed $16B, much of it regained by the economic activity of the newly unionized Apple work force. All costs or penalties associated with the shutdown of Apple's Chinese factories and construction of the new domestic factories (distributed according to state population figures) will be borne by Apple. As this program matures and begins to encompass other industries, OWS will slowly fade as a movement, largely because the American economy will reach full employment and there will be no need for Wall Street at all.

Aint gonna happen folks. Oh sure manufacturing could come back to the states, but not with union labor demanding the pay of Dentist.
But, there are jobs out there to be had for those who are not afraid to work. Since 2005 our sales of firewood, just firewood have more than quadrupled. Firewood is hard work folks, real hard work, but they are good jobs.
Go to one of the Chinese outlets, find a heavy or bulky product, can you or someone you know manufacture it? If so, do it, the cost of shipping today is outrageous, if it is bulky and/or heavy you can probably manufacture it locally and sell it locally with a Made in city, state, USA label on it for the same price as the import.
But as for those high tech jobs coming back here, no way. You are not going to pay the price for a USA union made TV and to be honest, neither am I.
I take away that this is a forecast of what could happen IF the OWS folks have their way. It is not unlike what happened in Germany as Hitler came to power. I think the effort is to get people to pay attention to the implication that OWS is not a self-generating phenomenon but rather a put up bu those who want government to control everything
That is bullcrap. The government makes or breaks the players. You are describing capitalism. I am saying I do not support crony capitalism and both parties have been guilty of it.
A system like this is not one that can sustain itself indefinitely.
Such bottom line mentality on the part of banks and business will result in another FDR being elected to office if it pushed to an extreme.
Not to mention what will happen when China decides not to play nice with us anymore.
Free Trade???
or...
How our Corporations conspire with communists to destroy our Country and way of life, while some conservatives cheer our emasculation.

China Threatens to Use Financial Weapon Against America
On Monday, Peoples Daily, Chinas leading newspaper, stated it was time for Beijing to consider using its financial weapon against the United States.
The Communist Partys flagship publication suggested that the Chinese government directly link its purchases of US Treasury debt to Taiwan arms sales and require ratings agencies to downgrade the United States in order to force up interest paid to China. China should also launch limited trade sanctions against states whose representatives in Congress supportTaiwan. China-US relations will always be constrained by these people and will continue along a roller coaster pattern if China does not beat them until they feel the pain, the paper said.
The context for the stinging piece in the partys self-described mouthpiece may be proposed arms sales to Taiwan, but the general message is clear: China should use its holdings of American obligations to accomplish its many geopolitical aims. In fact, China has never wanted to use its holdings of US debt as a weapon, the paper noted. It is the United States that is forcing it to do so.

Cheer leaders for the type of free trade being practiced today need to remove their heads from their greedy...asset sheets.
Just what I was thinking.
Well, for most it seems, patriotism has a price tag and they sell it frequently.
thanks, two good links.
Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t.
Thirty years ago, the Sperry division of Univac was, if not the leading aircraft instrument company in the world, certainly in the top three.
Then, that group got acquired by Honeywell, and, about 10 years ago, Allied-Signal bought them to get the Honeywell name.
Then, over the period of the next few years, they moved nearly all engineering to India.
Total workforce in Phoenix cut by 90%.
Well, turns out the Indians couldn’t do the work.
Over the course of the last few years, they’ve screwed Boeing so badly and so often that Boeing will no longer even accept proposals from them for new projects.
Their other customers aren’t, apparently, much happier.
Thus, the company founded by the guy who INVENTED instrument flying, driven into the ground by Morons With MBAs trying to cut a few bucks from the “Labor” line-item in the spreadsheet.
Cost dropped, productivity dropped even further. Can’t make that up in volume.
Yup and yup on tariffs. The Japs, Koreans and Chinese are hi-IQ enough and non-prejudiced enough to know that “free trade” is utter bullshyte and a cruel lie. If you want more poverty then make your nation a nation guided by the high and lofty theories of “free trade” that only work in the cloud world. Not in the real world.
No, after defecting to USSR, Lee Harvey Oswald made it back to the USA because the Russians thought he was an idiot and didn't want him.
