The miracle dog who wagged his tail after surviving a gas chamber has found a permanent home.
Daniel, a beagle mix named by animal control workers in Alabama after the biblical figure who survived the lion's den, joined four other rescued dogs at a home 1,000 miles away in New Jersey. ...
Mr Dwyer said he and his family had two meet-and-greets with Daniel before being approved for adoption, and the dog has become fast friends with the Nutley family's other four pooches.
They have two dachshunds, a beagle mix and a pit bull mix. By Thursday evening they were all lying down together, he said. It was wonderful to see. ...

Update on Daniel the Miracle Dog
A doggie gas chamber? I thought that dogs got a shot of something to put them down.
Good to hear. Thanks for the ping and post.
Thanks a good looking mutt.
Here in South Australia it’s done with a shot.Gas chamber sounds terrible.I’ve stood holding my dogs and talking to them all the way till their heart stops after their shot. Can’t imagine you could do that with a gas chamber. The poor thing would be alone. The whole thing sucks...dogs should live forever.
Some pounds still carbon monoxide.
According to the article: “At least 15 states, including New Jersey and New York, have banned carbon monoxide for euthanising shelter animals, but it is still a method used in many parts of the country.”
ps God bless you Ms Dwyer
Glad to see the Beagle is adjusting to his new family. The Doxie seems a little jealous in the one picture.
I don't know what the practice is in other states, but in Virginia (to the extent of my knowledge) it is done by an overdose of an anesthetic.
I have been present at the deaths of two of my dogs over the years and it is a quick and apparently painless, exit from this life.
Of course, I was greatly aggrieved when they died.
If I make it to those Pearly Gates I will have a question: why did God give us these wonderful creatures but made their stay on Earth so brief?
Thanks, I tried going to the article to learn more but the links did not work for me.
I've thought that myself over the years.I've felt that terrible loss enough times now to actually thank God they don't live longer.
Ping!
I don’t know how people can live with themselves after doing this all day.
Seriously. Who else on the planet will love you without bounds and be loyal without conditions and keep your feet warm at night?
I wish I could remember the story that answers why these companion animals were put here so briefly by God.
It was answered by a little girl who said that they didn’t need as long on earth to learn to love. They were mostly born knowing how to do it. It was we humans who needed more time to learn such a simple thing and our companion animals helped to teach us.
