Newt is going to have a harder fall than Cain or Perry given his past flip flops. These flip flops, ethics scandals, and personal scandals will be front-page news in the next few weeks.
Agreed. he’s done before he even starts.
Yawn. Care to summarize said "ethics scandals & personal scandals?"
I love Newt’s logic and insight. But as much as we want to ignore the baggage, it’s going to be a huge problem. Look what just happened to Cain based on a few half-baked allegations.
Wait till a whole new generation learns about Newt’s marriages. Forget the breakups. The marriages alone will keep the talking heads going for weeks. Everyone was scandalous at the onset, and those are the facts. Even Newt would agree with that statement.
Having said that, I’d still vote for him if he was the candidate. I am just warning everyone here, especially you younger Freepers. You aint seen nothin’ yet!

Why? It is old news and well known. Newt’s past is out there and not hidden. Apparently, folks like his style and are not concerned about his past screw ups. I’m not saying this is right, but just the way it is.
He generates an aura of self-confidence and no need to bellittle opponents; the tactic is working. Plus, he is best qualified, as a debater, to rip and tear up Obama in debates. No wonder he is climbing.
Plus, he does not really propose any radical departures from the past, just responsible spending.
He is indeed looking more attractive as the “anti-Romney” all the time.
The ONE ethics scandal (that I'm aware of anyway) was hardly a scandal, more trumped-up bullshit than anything else.
As far as Newt's personal baggage is concerned, that's been a well-trodden road for awhile now. Sure there's some segment of the population that may not know about it, but think about it: how will Newt's personal problem's compare to Obama's complete lack of leadership and hatred for All Things America?
This country is desperate for someone who can solve problems and go after the bigger issues. Currently, Newt's becoming that guy. I also think Herman Cain has that capability to some smaller degree.
Newt's flip-flops on "global warming" for example are concerning to me. The vivid images of him sitting on a sofa with Princess Pelosi are still in the front of my mind, and I think he was dead-wrong on that issue.
Still, seeing Gingrich literally shred Obama to bits in the debates would be worth him getting the nomination. (No teleprompter made can save Obama from the complete whipping he'd get from Gingrich.)
