Don't underestimate Newt Gingrich, warns Dan Rather during an MSNBC roundtable discussion today.
"Anyone who has covered Newt Gingrich over the years knows better than to underestimate him," said Rather, referencing his political comeback. "Newt Gingrich on the move politically is as dangerous as a wounded wolverine."
Rather added that Jon Huntsman was the best candidate for the GOP in the 2012 general election, but would have a hard time winning the Republican primary.

Jon Huntsman on the other hand probably could win the Democratic primary.

Newt isn't perfect. Sometimes he does stupid things like the above pic. But where I like him is that his instincts are generally conservative in an ideologically pure way. Like with the TARP bail-outs. But he sometimes throws his instincts out the window.
Bush every once in a while did things that were conservative, but like the rest of his northeastern elitist friends, his instincts were liberal. I think sometimes Newt is the opposite.
I like him because he's a figher and always has been, and this is not true of most of the GOP establishment. That said, Cain is my horse in this race if and until he loses.

If a frog had pockets, the lint in those pockets would be wet as a mad hen, unless it was a toad on a telephone wire in which case it would be dry as a kangaroo rat in hell. Hah! Very good. I was trying to think of some 'Dan Ratherisms' - but none of them would top your line...

Fake, but accurate. Never doubt that old Marine, Dan Rather. He in the Marine Corpse, until he quit in boot camp.
To: Bubba_Leroy
This is rich coming from the Castro loving Rather. The only dangerous candidate is the commie sitting in our White House.
To: Thane_Banquo
I think folks like Rather are getting uncomfortable with Newt during these debates, attacking the premise of their questions and all.
Newt’s going all Prov 26:4-5 on them.

I have not offered my cherished endorsement to any candidate yet, but, it is tempting to back Newt if his supporters can be called “the wounded wolverines.”

No, Newt is as dangerous as an Alvin Toffler world-government Progressive...because that is exactly what he is.

What’s a Dan Rather? Rather what?
(ie not relevant)
To: dfwgator
Dan Rather is as nimble as a crossed-eyed maroon (former Big Ten member).............
