Results from new poll of GOP primary voters from Democratic firm Public Policy Polling: Newt Gingrich (28 percent), Herman Cain (25 percent), Mitt Romney (18 percent), Rick Perry (6 percent), Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul (5 percent), Jon Huntsman (3 percent), Rick Santorum and Gary Johnson (1 percent).
One particularly interesting note from PPP: Theres reason to think that if Cain continues to fade, Gingrich will continue to gain. Among Cains supporters 73 percent have a favorable opinion of Gingrich to only 21 percent with a negative one.

“Newt needs No learning curve which Cain clearly does”
So you are saying the only reason I should support Newt is because of something he doesn’t have? Bzzt.
I’m looking for a reason to support him, not a reason not to support Cain.
Have another go at it.
Newt has some serious skeletons in his closet and major policy flip flops on his record. He will not be able to stand the scrutiny that being a front runner will bring him.
Newt has done it before. It makes sense that he could do it again.
Romney is a liberal. Cain is an unknown quantity regarding life and taxation. Perry can’t seem to get his act together. Gingrich has some personal life issues. Santorum can’t get traction. Bachman over-reached and is nose-diving.
None of the above, however, except Gingrich, has ever balanced a federal budget, and that with a democratic president fighting him.
Gingrich doing the global warming spot with Pelosi has 2 important caveats: (1) he said it was a dumb mistake, and (2) it happened BEFORE the East Anglia research fraud was exposed by an email hacker.
Damaged his brand? He’s still and always has been a pro-Life, pro-God, pro-gun, pro-American exceptionalism, pro-natural marriage and family, pro-military, pro-strong national defense, pro-fiscal sanity conservative.
Nothing he has done has been against any of those, and those are the heart of conservatism.
Newt is not pro-amnesty. He supports closed borders and a worker system.
His past marriages are his failing, but in each case it has been with a female.
Wrong, he supports, amnesty, he just wants to call it something else, look at his statements. And he supports the dream act. Look them up they have been posted here many times.
I didn't catch the last debate. I watched the Pacqiao V. Marquez fight instead (it was great!). However, I just saw this clip on Hot Air from the debate. It is tough to not like a guy who treats the press like this and answers questions so forcibly.

I highly recommend seeing the clip.

Nope, because Cain is still winning in Ia, SC, etc. Nice try
So, the smartest man in the room didn’t realize what he was doing sitting on the couch with Pelosi? Or, bashing the Ryan plan? Or, bashing Conservatives right after that? Or, by supporting health care mandates?
Jack Welch: He [Huntsman] is so great Hes going to emerge, in my opinion, its going to be between Romney and Huntsman in the end. (CNBCs Squawk Box, 11/11/11).
Completely agreed. If it isn’t Jon, the Republican is going to crater, IMO.
For months and months, we have said we did not want a Washington insider. Now you say that Cain is not qualified for President. That is what we want. Someone who is NOT intrenched in DC. He is the best and should give him 100 percent support. Newt is smart, but once people are reminded that he dumped his wife in the hospital with cancer, do you think they will vote for him??? I don’t.
“Among Cains supporters 73 percent have a favorable opinion of Gingrich to only 21 percent with a negative one.
In an additional but equally unsurprising finding, pollsters also discovered if any Cain supporter defected to become a Gingrich supporter, he would raise the average IQ of both constituencies.
How is a “political outsider” different in a positive way from a governor “outsider” ? In the case of Cain, it seems to be the candidate that isn’t even passingly interested enough in public policy to read the newspaper on a regular basis.
Maybe he is beginning to realize having weathered a series of stumbles that governing is very, very difficult and mistakes can be very, very costly. Being the president of the United States is unquestionably the most difficult job in the world, and politics is a dangerous game, I, for one, am not keen on waiting until after the election to discover where his loyalties and convictions truly reside.
are you playing spin Dr. or what? You asked for a reason to support Newt...I gave it. We don’t need newbees at the helm where we’ve seen the effects thru Obama these past years...no thank you. Newt’s got the best chance od using his skills and expereince, which few can dispute, to get this country back on track...
Nobody has the experience that Newt does...and you certainly know that as well.. so why are you spinning? Would you be more comfortable with someone with less expereince and ability to navigate washington at this time of peril in our country?
Are you certain he did that or is that how the media projected it?... because his family has stepped out and stated otherwise for some time now, as has his wife.
missed in all the
“Cain is fading” commentary is that it is actually Romney who is fading, though Herman has dropped a bit.
Here Naps....Newt’s daughter sets the record straight...that Newt did not abandon his wife nor the family.
“My parents told my sister and me that they were getting a divorce as our family of four sat around the kitchen table of our ranch home... LATER THAT SUMMER, Mom went to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for surgery to remove a tumor. While she was there, Dad took my sister and me to see her....
....It is this visit that has turned into the infamous hospital visit about which MANY UNTRUTHS have been told... My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, WHICH SHE REQUESTED.”
