George W. Bush-era energy policy wonks are finding a new home with Mitt Romney.
The former Massachusetts governor can count on support from a whos who of former Bush officials willing to raise money, brainstorm policy ideas and generally help spread the word among the ranks of like-minded GOP energy experts.
Already on board the Romney train are Jim Connaughton, who ran Bushs White House Council on Environmental Quality for all eight years; former Assistant Energy Secretary Andy Karsner; former EPA air chief Jeff Holmstead; and former EPA congressional affairs liaison Edward Krenik.
The former Bush officials all told POLITICO that they dont have official roles in the Romney campaign. But they confirmed their support for Romney, yet another potential signal that the Washington establishment has decided who has the inside track for the GOP nomination.
Its pre-dating, said a former Bush energy official. Everybody sees the writing on the wall on whos going to win, so theyre jumping over there.

rino to rino.
figures.
Of course. Romney sees only good in GWB. Romney bots do too.
Dept. of Energy and EPA.
Close them both down, we don’t need what they are doing. They are worse than worthless, they do great damage to the nation.
But you would expect a RINO linke Romney to come to the rescue of these dweebs.
You mean the same idiots who sat on their hands about off shore and Alaskan North SLope drilling when the economy initially collapsed because of the massive spike in oil prices?
I know, I know, COngress had banned drilling on the North Slope. But Bush II’s daddy had instituted an executive order banning this well before then. His little boy waited too late to lift that ban and make it a political issue with the Democrats.
I HATE RINOs - sometimes even more than I hate leftists because they ENABLE them.
Bush actually had energy advisers? Who knew? Were they the ones who advised him to promise that the Iraq war would be paid for with Iraq oil?
Its a little early for Mitt to be measuring for drapes. He needs to at least wait until he breaks 25% in the polls.
Who is surprised by this? All part of the problem. These people need to be on the outside when Robomney loses.
Phew, we finally can have Bush’s 3rd term!
Bush is a RINO so are his followers.
All scrambling to get those cushy EPA jobs back.
Disgusting.
They were the ones who made him gush about how he could “feel” us “growing” out of our energy dependence because of that great boondoggle ethanol from corn. Wow, now our strategic energy independence is assured. Rest easy.
The TEA party hating establishment GOP RINOs are only interested in hanging on to power so they can conduct business as usual. They fear the TEA party. They are our enemy. And Romney’s no run of the mill RINO. He’s a full-fledged liberal progressive RINO.
Romney supports TARP, supports bailouts, supports stimulus and is the chief-architect and advocate of RomneyCare and is primary reason we now have ObamaCare. And these are the primary concerns the TEA Party was formed to fight against.
Romney is the anti-Reagan!!
He’s a big government, mandate loving progressive socialist liberal in all respects. Keyneisian liberal, social liberal, the works.
FUMR!! FUKR!! No way in hell are we going to support a business as usual elite ruling class liberal like Romney.
Long live the TEA Party Rebellion!!
NO RINOS!! NO ROMNEY!! NO WAY!!
I'm still waiting for that comprehensive energy strategy he promised. I know we heard a lot in the press about Cheney's "secret" meetings with "Big Oil" but where was the policy?
Yep!
Think Romney’s in the lead? Then be sure to tuune in the Mark Levin show tomorrow. He will tell you about his poll of over 12,000 votes. :o)
This was the count 6:30PM today with 12,188 total votes:
Cain 55%
Gingrich 41%
Romney 4%

Perry has been way to conservative for a long time for Bush and friends. They have a history and are not on the friendliest of terms.
