STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The judge who ruled former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky be freed on $100,000 unsecured bail after being charged with 40 counts of sexual abuse against children is a volunteer for The Second Mile, the charity Sandusky founded.
The state Attorney General's Office requested $500,000 bail and an electronic leg monitor for Sandusky, but District Judge Leslie Dutchcot, active in several volunteer roles, ordered Sandusky, a State College resident, to have no contact with children. He will not have to pay any money unless he fails to appear for court.
Dutchot also serves as counsel for the law firm Goodall & Yurchak. She is vice president of Centre County Meals on Wheels, a counselor at Centre County Law Enforcement Camp Cadet, Inc. and volunteers for the American Heart Association. A phone call to her office was not immediately returned

State College is like Vatican West...
Why didn’t this judge not take the case and hand it over to another judge? Hmmmm....... ?!
And this is why intelligent discussion and debate is hindered.
No end of corruption in this story either.
FWIW, I agree
Is Jerry still within the borders of this country?
This is such an egregious conflict of interest she should be removed from the bench for failing to recuse herself. In a better world she would face charges.
Maybe all the judges are in on the deal and there was no one to give it to.
No worries.
I’ve been putting up with child-rape apologists on this forum for years. I don’t give a damn.
It is what it is and child rape is wrong regardless if you are wearing a white collar or college logo.
The parallels are obvious with the exception that someone might actually go to jail in this case.
bump to that
On the contrary, the parallels are obvious and invite debate with regard to the outcomes...
It just seems to me that if this judge “volunteered” with the group... there would be an immediate conflict of interest. (or... it could be far worse but that would only be speculating at this point)

Little cabal there locally, sounds like
Recall the judge.
Yep, the POS was out shopping @ Dick’s Sporting Goods yesterday as if nothing had happened! Mebbe he thinks that with a judge in his pocket, charges will be dismissed as before.
JC
If the defendant has plenty of assets, this procedure is not uncommon for anyone accused of a similar crime.
Sandusky is almost surely guilty and the only thing i would have done differently is require a monitering braclet.
The prosecution should immediately file a motion to get a different judge.
C’mon, you know that we have no ballot initiatives in PA and Judicial Retention elections are 10 years apart.
