Mitt Romney has a growing lead in the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, and almost half of the party's voters expect him to be the nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Twenty-eight percent of Republicans backed the former Massachusetts governor, giving him a lead of 8 percentage points over his nearest challenger Herman Cain in the poll, taken November 10-11.

It is kind of clueless ROmeny would even bother focusing on Perry since Perry is his own worst enemy, not to be taken seriously now. Romeny SHOULD be focusing on Gingrich who is surging and is a clearly better choice from Moderates to independants to conservatives than the RINO Romeny. Cain as well. I see it coming down to Cain and Gingrich and maybe the top guy picks the other as their running mate.

Wake up Romeny is NOT going to get the nomination. It’s down to Gingrich or Cain and hopefully Cain, as Gingrich is still an establishment Republican and is still part of the problem not the solution.

You would think they have a clue...

It is group think. They are smart, but they begin to believe their $hit doesn't stink.

“But it still doesn’t address the issue of who is attacking who.”

Seriously?! Sorry, but if you can’t read between the lines, or figure that out, then I doubt that there is anything anybody here at FR can do to help you out.

Suggest you read Ann Coulter’s recent column. She does an excellent job of pointing out who is attacking Cain and why they are doing it.

“...And I hope he picks Cain as his VP...”

Cain has already stated that he doesn’t want the VP spot if the nominee is Romney.

Just saw Stephen Hayes on Fox praising the greatness of Romneylus. Fox has gone under the influence of the “dark side”.

I really can’t see Palin endorsing Romeny. If she did her credibility would go out the window, seeing how the Tea Party looks up to her and the Tea Party cannot stand Romeny! That said I don’t see Palin supporting Romeny.

Then, you should be very concerned that if Romney gets the nomination, Obama will be reelected. There are many who hold the same position that I do: we will not vote for a RINO again. We've done that before and look where it got us. A vote for Romney is the same as a vote for Obama. The republicans will have no one but themselves to blame when they lose the election.

Principles over party.

“I still think it’s going to be Romney. And I hope he picks Cain as his VP....

I guess we’ll see.”

There is about zero chance that would happen, he wont be anyones VP.

What does he add to any ticket? No experience at all with dealing with Congress or foreign policy. Muddled answers on abortion and gun control wont help either. Obumble will get 95+% of the black vote, so nothing added there.

have you not been following the Cain money train since he won the FL straw poll to gain the lead? He’s been getting a steady influx of cash since then. And since the bogus allegations against him the money is coming in even quicker. Conservatives know the left and the Obama administration FEAR Cain so the money is flowing towards him at an unporecedented pace and will continue to do so.

Agreed.

I just hope I get the CHANCE to vote for Cain. Here in NJ, the primary is late, so things will likely be pretty set by then.

“What the hell was the OP even thinking?”

Dunno. Perhaps because it’s Sunday morning and he/she hasn’t had the requisite amount of coffee to switch the logic circuit in his/her noggin.

Picking Cain as a VP will not get my vote. Romney is a RINO and there is no way he can be made palatable.

The establishment on both sides want Mitt Romney to be the candidate because he will keep the status quo; it would let them keep their corruption if any manage to stay in Congress when the voters are through. They would've probably backed Perry too, if more voters had like him. Now they have to try to make Romney look more relevant somehow - playful sparring makes it look like the White House takes him seriously. They do too - they want him because Cain scares them half to death, I think. They would much, much rather run against Mitt so they can keep their mantra of Rich vs. "poor liberals", and use the race card, too.

Anyway, I don't put much stock in these polls and I think it's too early to tell much of anything.

In the meantime, enjoy the pic below!

If Romney does take it, you can bet that he will pick Gingrich for VP and not Cain. Like you said, Cain stumbles even trying to decide which group of experts he needs to hire to make up for his inability and lack of experience.
