Mitt Romney has a growing lead in the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, and almost half of the party's voters expect him to be the nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Twenty-eight percent of Republicans backed the former Massachusetts governor, giving him a lead of 8 percentage points over his nearest challenger Herman Cain in the poll, taken November 10-11.

Obama seems to be ignoring all the GOP primary candidates. I haven’t seen one Obama political ad (unless you count every time he speaks), but specifically I haven’t seen one ad against Romney.
Romney is not a conservative. So he’ll lose the conservative vote if he’s selected as the GOP candidate. The Republicans will lose the presidential election. Again. Conservatives learned their lesson with McCain.
The Union League Club aristocracy think that if they force Mitt down our throat, we’ll grudgingly vote for him in the general election. I don’t believe it will happen this time. If only folks like Rove would throw their weight behind a conservative, imagine the momentum that would be generated. Instead they savage conservative candidates and alienate themselves from (I’m guessing) a third of voting population.
If it takes letting Obama have another 4 years to ruin the Nation, then so be it. Let the GOP wither, and Tea Party Prosper.

If more had voted for McCain in November, we’d probably be looking at Sarah Palin’s campaign this year.
Did we learn this lesson?

“Why does Romney attack Perry and not Cain? Why does Obama continue to attack Romney?”
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I’m not sure but I can pose a question. Just how would Obama go about attacking Cain? Herman Cain is the real American black man to Obama’s pretender. Herman Cain is a man with a real resume to Obama’s “community organizer” pathetic background. Herman Cain has a known and open history to Obama’s obscure past. Just how would Obama attack Cain in a way that does not backfire on Obama? He could point out Cain’s lack of political background and the fact that Cain has never held elective office but I don’t think that will work very well, people are about ready to PREFER someone without a history in politics. Obama may indeed be involved in the behind the scenes attacks already but the phony sexual harassment scandal doesn’t seem to be working. Everyone I talk to sees it as a lot of garbage.

Good point. What has been learned? Has it?
The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++8 pts. days prior to September 18th, 2008.
So the RomneyTeam attacked Gov. Palin and her children to throw Election2008.
"Frum was indeed a critic of Palin, calling her nomination a "huge mistake" during an October 13 Early Show appearance."
David Frum: "Two of our most plausible candidates for president in 2012 are leading Mormons: Mitt Romney and Utah governor Jon Huntsman."
David Frum: "I have a lot of regard for Mitt Romney as a man and politician.
Let me say for the record: If Romney emerges as the Republican nominee, I will support him without qualm."
Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers, some of whom are currently working for Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin's bid for the White House,
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide, now working for McCain-Palin.
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
He's in charge on November 5th.'"
The Prowler added: "Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."
The Romney supporters in the McCain campaign had access to internal polling which indicated well in advance of the November 4 election that McCain had no chance to win.
So they began working to position their man Mitt for a run in 2012. Just two days after the election,The Palmetto Scoop reported:
"One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"Im told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palins people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romneys former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
These aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.
"...there are some staffers on the McCain campaign who seriously screwed up the roll out of Sarah Palin, to which Governor Palin herself objected.
These staffers are now out trying to finish her off thinking, as typical D.C. types do, that if they dont do it to her, shell do it to them. They just never understood who Palin is or what she is about."
"Likewise, I do think there are some staffers and others who expect Mitt Romney to run again in 2012,
they decided McCain could not win, and decided to undermine Sarah Palin and her chances hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."
"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign? (Mark Wallace, Romney pimp)
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the Diva leak was Nicolle Wallaces husband."

I live in west central Ohio, and do not know one person who is supporting Romney. Less than six months ago when I mentioned Cain, everyone of them asked, “Who’s Cain”? Now, he is all the talk. Evidently, this area is checking the man out, and word of mouth is doing wonders.

” Exactly. An online poll about the republican nominees that is answered by liberals is no indication of the true front runner. “
Agree. Similar to the Ron Paul supporters who will vote hundreds of times to make sure he wins

No.. we’d be looking at a re-elect the ego maniac McCain election.

This poll is a poll of ‘whom do you EXPECT to be the nominee’????
That is entirely different from a poll that asks whom you will vote for.
I this this poll is bogus.
It is intentially meant to mislead the reader.
To: Paladin2
Yeah you never see polls polling just conservatives and Tea Partiers (which are one and the same). If so it would be Cain and Gingrich on top and Romeny would be single digits with Huntsman.

I doubt it. We'd get 4 more years of McCain, if he wasn't defeated by the dem nominee. We can only speculate.
I did vote for McCain (grudgingly). Rather than repeating the behavior that did nothing for us last time, I'm changing my behavior this time.
The Aristocracy has to REALLY believe that liberal candidates will not get conservative support. If it has to be proved by our actions, then so be it.
