Mitt Romney has a growing lead in the race for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, and almost half of the party's voters expect him to be the nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Twenty-eight percent of Republicans backed the former Massachusetts governor, giving him a lead of 8 percentage points over his nearest challenger Herman Cain in the poll, taken November 10-11.

Because it's already in the bag. The debates are just fluff to apease the little people. It's 2008 all over again.
You really should be ashamed of your childish sleazy behavior here.
My pleasure! :)
Ah yes, Reuters pushing their guy hoping ANOTHER lick spittle, spineless liberal Republican will bow and scrape before Hussein just as McCain did.
If/When Slick Willard gets over 30%, then its time to worry. In no poll has he topped 25%. That number has remained consistent all year. What’s changed is the standing of the rest of the field. There are three serious Romney alternatives: Cain, Gingrich and Perry. The rest will drop out after Iowa, one by one by one because they don’t have much support and they don’t have money to compete effectively with Romney. Eventually, conservatives will coalesce around Cain or Gingrich. The party will only nominate Romney if it falls for the notion he is the “inevitable” candidate. The MSM and the establishment have their preferred candidate. Most Republicans want someone else. That’s what polls like this one don’t bother to highlight.
I will write in Herman Cain IF I have to, I am NOT VOTING once again for the LESSER OF AN EVIL.
Tru Dat....
Me too.
Mitt Romney and the GOP can take a flying leap.
You want facts? Here they are; (Actually read them this time)
From Wikipedia;
“Herman Cain has enthusiastically embraced the Koch brothers, who have funded his campaign. According to Cain, “Just so I can clarify this for the media, this may be a breaking news announcement for the media: I am the Koch brothers’ brother from another mother; yes. I’m their brother from another mother! And proud of it!” Cain has been accused of violating campaign finance laws by accepting money from a nonprofit affiliated with the Koch brothers and Mark Block. Nonprofits are not allowed to spend money on presidential campaigns.[63]”
Bank bailouts, and “too big to fail”;
Cain supported the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) bank bailouts as a way to revive the economy, viewing it as an investment opportunity for the taxpayers. In a 2008 editorial, Cain wrote, “Owning a part of the major banks in America is not a bad thing. We could make a profit while solving a problem.”[1]
In May 2011, regarding his TARP support, Cain said, “I dont have any regrets . . . I studied the situation. I didnt have trouble with the idea; I had trouble with its implementation, picking winners and losers.”[2]
In October 2011, Cain said he does not believe in the concept of “too big to fail” and has stated that he did not agree with the bailouts of “JP Morgan and the big banks on Wall Street”.[3]
Affirmative action;
Cain supports ensuring that minorities receive the same opportunities as non-minorities. He does not agree with a “quota” style affirmative action system, which he believes gives an advantage to minorities simply because they are a minority
Cain supports the Palestinian right of return under Israeli conditions.[61] He later commented that he had not understood the question while making his initial answer, but reiterated his support for it under Israeli conditions.[62] This led to criticism regarding his lack of foreign policy experience due to his admitted unfamiliarity with the issue and need for subsequent clarification.[63]
2008 presidential election;
In 2008, Cain initially praised Democratic candidate Barack Obama, saying of Obama that “His gift is the gift of oratory. That’s not just the ability to speak, but the ability to connect with people.” He also said that he would consider supporting Obama “under the right circumstances” but only if he made a serious attempt to “reach across the aisle”. Eventually, Cain instead endorsed Mitt Romney in the Republican primary. [70]
Really want to be remembers as a shameless liar and childish personal attack bot?
Respect is earned and can be easily lost.
Your are busy losing any you might of ever have had here.
If you are a realist then you know that conservatives will not vote for Romney.
like a push poll, reuters wants to push romney up.
ROTF ... LMFAO!
Someone needs to photoshop that and substitute “Fox News Contributor” with “Romney Toadie”
McCain was no help either; he was a horrible candidate and he refused to debate or criticize many of Obama’s weaknesses based on McCain's own loony sense of proper “decorum.”
Conservative men showed up at the polls for McCain as we always have. We held our noses and voted for the (McCain)/ PALIN team; just as we did for Dole, Bush the Elder, Sen John Warner (the RINO who endorsed the DEM candidate when Ollie North ran for U.S. Senator) and a host of other RINO’s the GOP has stuck us with over the years.
I'm done; I will not vote for Romney as I consider him totally untrustworthy and not a Conservative!!! The GOP has kept Conservatives on the “reservation” just as much as the Dems have kept most Blacks and Hispanics. If the GOP wants my vote they will have to earn it. I will NOT be cowed into supporting any more RINO’s when there are viable Conservatives available.
So please; don't try to lay McCain's loss on the backs of Conservatives; that's just WRONG!!!
Unfortunately, that isn't true. Many people make their determination on who to support based on their view of electability which is strongly influenced by where candidates are in the polls. Low poll numbers mean less future support.
Sometimes I wonder if we’re all just preaching to co-choir members. All of us agree - just say no to Mittens. But even my parents, who at one point, I thought were more conservative than I, feel that Rommney is the only electable candidate.
Sorry, but comments like that are garbage. Why do we argue among ourselves? I’ve been reading this forum since the days of Belly Girl! So I only just started posting, big deal? What does it matter?
We need to take this country back next year, because if Obama gets in again, we are f^cked. Completely and totally. That health care bill will bankrupt this country and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Come on. Stop with the attacks - calling new voices trolls for no reason other than the fact that we are new!
Most on FR, including JimRob, the website's owner and operator, will not vote for Romney under any circumstances. Take that to the Perfumed Princes at the GOP.
If you've really lurked for so long, than surely you know how we receive anguished newbies posting poll results.
FYI...As a follow-up to our earlier conversation, check out the following NY Post story about who’s leading in the polls for the GOP nomination:
The article says that Cain currently leads Romney in polling (25% for Cain; 22% for Romney).
My point is that most legitimate national polls appear to show Cain in the lead.
But again, it’s all just worthless noise at the moment. The “powers-that-be” are doing their damnedest to push Mittens Romney on us despite our objections.
Think for yourself, pay attention and use your own counsel rather than take a RINO’s word as gospel.
