Mitt Romney Will Win Iowa Caucus, Predicts GOP Insider
The Daily Beast ^ | 11/11/2011 | John Batchelor

Mitt Romney doesn’t generate enthusiasm from the conservative base, according to one GOP insider, but he’ll still take the upcoming Iowa caucus. The big winner, though, is Fox News.

“It’s gonna be Romney, and the party is miserable,” observed a Republican agent just back from the presidential contest in Iowa. “One day Bachmann, the next day Perry, then another day Cain, now Newt. The flavor of the day will pass. Why do many Fox contributors become candidates? It gets you in the debates and polls. But it doesn’t stick. Iowa is about paying an organization to show up. They are used to it. It’s an entitlement to Iowa. First in the nation means mercenaries, buying up the talent, then bringing the people you paid for to the caucus.”

With about seven weeks to go to the January 3 caucus in Iowa, I enjoyed my conversation with a shrewdly cynical professional who can explain what’s the matter with the Iowa primary, why we see such helter-skelter in the polling that swings from challenger to challenger while the Old Reliable Romney never goes down or up, just hangs onto his unshakeable twenty-something plateau.

“You gotta have money to get the people out,” continued my informant. “It’s a muscle caucus, not a message place. They are used to it. You need money to hire the guys who are well connected to make sure the right people get to the caucus night. It’s not a vote; it’s a paid event. Romney, having waited for the other candidates to blow each other or themselves up, he can buy himself a victory gradually and steadily.

So what the “insider” is saying that regardless of the people who go to the Iowa caucus say, Romney will win Iowa’s votes at the convention.

The whole process is pretty much Soviet, so sure, why not?

In-house TVs at a location in a major corporation location the other day made it sound as though Romney is past the primary stage, actually. I thought that money must talk large everywhere.

In the conservative chat room, #americapolitics on IRC’s Undernet server, more then one alleged “insider” has stated it is in the bag for Romney because they own enough of the delegates to ensure he wins the nomination. I.e. they are bragging the fix is in.

How can we be sure our votes in the primary count?

John Batchelor has been pimping Mitt for weeks on his radio show.

Never heard of the guy... But based on the article - this is no surprise...

" Iowa is about paying an organization to show up. "

Sounds like how ALL Establishment Candidates are brought to the forefront, with the complicit State-Run-Media blowing the trumpets for them, 24/7.

Follow the money, as usual.

>>>Is that how Huckabee did it? Huckabee bought Iowa?

In a sense, yes. He won-over the evangelicals with his God-words - once they heard the ‘right’ God-words, they became ignorant to the rest of Huck’s non-conservative stands. I think the economy might trump the “God-word effect” this time around.

The democrat party is deteriorating, the republican party is deteriorating, the Americans are rising. We’ve had enough of all this crap. We’re taking back our government, and they’re resisting. They’re both in their death throes.

What will emerge? The Constitution.

Oat-squeeze. The Paulistinians can’t bus in enough to do well either. Paul’s likely support is college kids - who will all be off wherever on Christmas Break and not be back to school when caucuses are held on Jan 3rd.

Herman Cain is not a “FoxNews contributor”. Silly piece, and I normally love Batchelor.

The typical Iowa Ron Paul supporters I have met are closer to 60 years old than to 20 years old. Is my personal experience an outlier?

Why do the parties continue to just accept the stupid “Iowa Caucus”? Just end it already. There wouldn’t even be ethanol subidies at all if it were eliminated. It isn’t even a primary. Caucuses also violate the principle of secret ballot. This how Obama’s union thugs were able to bully Hillary voters into submission at every caucus.

it is a caucus.

each caucus site holds a preference vote and then each candidate group chooses their allotted delegates. Are you going this year to observe?

Yes, Paul does have some 60-appeal... but I don’t believe it’s enough here to make a big difference.
