A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.
This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.
Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

Nevertheless, I must say that the tone of a lot of the posters around recently caused me to do something I never thought I'd do, root for Penn State (ahem, at least for the Nebraska game ;-) ). I think the term "spittle-flecked" describes the tone of many around here rather nicely.
Chin up.
Well, I'll concede that those particular members of the pederast fan club make the other 5% look bad.
O, so 95% of the crowd was composed of boy-rapers and faggots?
Why don’t you have a problem with lying?
Yep, I would say that's about right. It's just horrific. The people I spoke with are sick to their stomachs about the whole affair, and just express shock and outrage over how many people let those kids down.
I saw some last nite and none of them mentioned this cheer. Was it that loud? Could they have been in a section far enough away to not hear it?
Assuming you mean the cheer during the prayer, it was extremely quiet absent 3-4 yahoos who shouted something out and were immediately quieted (as it didn't persist). The student section did cheer for Paterno a few times, although I didn't see any non-students joining in that. Can't say I can work myself into a lather over the somewhat immature worldview of college students...that's practically universal and expected.

I would agree...It's given my some new perspective on certain posters. I suspect if the "shoe were on the other foot" and this occurred within a Republican's office (for example) they'd be pointing out that this isn't representative of all Republicans. Too bad they can't extend the intellectual consistency beyond their narrow "favored" institutions.
“Even though the Attorney General disagrees.”
For now. When the indictments begin coming down we’ll see how old Joe fares. I’d wager obstruction of justice, conspiracy after the fact and/or enabling of a felony.
Indictments have come down, and the AG has expressly stated that Paterno isn't a target: "We believe that under the statute, he had an obligation to report it to the school administrators, and he did that," Kelly said.
Rumor has it there is one more indictment to come, and that's very likely Spanier IMO.
As an aside, it's funny to see you advocatinga view that additional facts might come out and that could change the current status of things. Considering your complete rush to judge all actors (including those not directly involved) based on an incomplete set of facts, it seems you'd like to have it both ways. A bit more intellectual consistency is in order, I think.
Based on what? The indictments with regard to the grand jury have already been handed down, and the AG of PA has stated that "Paterno is not a target of the investigation". Obviously more information could come to light, but considering pretty much everything we know is from the GJ report, I'm not sure what you are basing your statement on.
Don't misrepresent what I said. I'm not including the portion of the crowd that there for Nebraska.
Saying 95% of the Penn State fans there are boy-rapers and faggots is still a lie.
And you said “pederast fan club.” Not my fault for guessing that you meant the entire crowd.
Agreed.
The people at the game felt the crowd, considering there were almost 108,000 of them, behaved quite well.
I must say the meeting at the center of the field and the talk/prayer by Husker asst. Ron Brown gave me chills. A real lesson for a lot of young men on the day.
True this is just guess work on my part. However with Sandusky most likely going to go for a plea deal, he’s going to need to open up on a number of issues - one of which is what did Paterno know and when did he know it all the way back to 1998. And then there are the other folks involved that will get taken down by this scandal. Woe is Joe if they squeal in his direction.
Me too. There were quite a number of people crying in the crowd around me; it was very powerful. Evidently this was Tom Osborne's idea, which just increases my respect for him.
Why are you bothering with me, don’t you have some more important stuff to do...like licking your many wounds?
OH, I get it! (ding!)
You were in that cheering crowd weren’t you.
I was in that crowd, but since you don't know me that's not what offends me about your posts. No, what offends me is the fact that I disdain idiocy just on general principle. It's always a shame to find it on this site.
Why can’t you just admit you’re a liar instead of changing the subject?
I knew it, you were there. If you were there cheering on the buggery crowd, you own it.
I see you can’t admit that you’re a liar. Not surprising.
And I’ve already said numerous time, on this thread and others, that I was there.
So are you going to admit you’re a liar or what?
So why were you cheering? That sounds like idiocy to me.
No, what is idiocy is accusing people cheering at a football game of being child abusers.
Because I have the mental horsepower to understand that guilt by association is a logical fallacy and a liberal trait.
Based on your posts, I'm not surprised you fail to understand that basic and rather obvious point.
