Buckeye Nation is a petri dish of group think.

Tell me about it. When I retire and move, there are two things I won't miss at all...the weather, and EVERYTHING Ohio State.

It negates all the good you’ve ever done.

No it doesn’t negate all the good in the man. It’s big and from my faith, it requires repentence and if possible, atonement. But it’s not all.

No, I did not see anybody besides the Westboros. But, when you said no protesters, I thought you meant that there were none period, not just none protesting the playing of the game.

I, and many others, not just at Penn State, but also in the national media, do not see why the game would need to be canceled.

I gotta say, this entire episode has made me sick. In order to show their support for the victims, students urged everyone to wear blue to the game today (as opposed to any other game where the students urge everyone to wear blue to the game in support of Paterno’s team). Does anyone else see how disrespectful this was?

"Promoting him to receivers coach does not necessarily indicate support of his actions. Paterno could have just thought it was dumb, not evil."

Yes, because elevating people with questionable intellect and judgment to what is essentially a prestigious mid-level management position is always a good thing to do.

Really? The whole stadium wore blue and the players prayed for them in public. Maybe not good enough for you but most thought it a very powerful message to all victims.

Interesting. The marxist judge who tossed Mass. to gay marriage was from South Africa, too.

And at this moment, the crowd is gathering at Paterno's house for a rally of support (just reported on NBC.)

They just don't get it. They'll be waving signs of support outside the courthouse next year. Guaranteed.

During the 10-year war between UM and OSU. Classic open-field running games, mostly. Lots of defense.

Who ever heard of letting a child rapist out on bail? Not going to happen in Texas. Send him back here to answer for the victim he transported across state lines to our game.

The fans are never asked to wear blue, they are asked to wear white, even I know this... geesh

Definitely not good enough for me, I’m not afraid to say.

Wearing colors, saying prayers- BIG DEAL. That’s nothing special, teams do stuff like that all the time, and you know it.

I’ve never met anyone who worships JoPa. Just holds him up as a legend or symbol of PSU.

Promoting him to receivers coach does not necessarily indicate support of his actions.

Paterno could have just thought it was dumb, not evil. Stupidity in one situation does not mean he will always be dumb and not be able to coach.

But, I’ll take this opportunity to mention another theory, one that implicates Joe:

McQueary was an abuse victim himself, and Paterno had known. It would explain why Paterno seems to have a special affection towards him, almost like he has his protective eye over him (I think you could say that about a lot of people in relation to Paterno, though.) It would also explain why McQueary was once willing to break up a knife-fight between players, but not intervene in a child rape (he could have been doing it with his prior cowardice in mind, though.) Unresolved in that theory is why McQueary’s father, a military man, would put up with his son being abused.

**I thot he was MCCLEARY??!?!? Interesting misspelling.

Soooo you are now defending McCleary’s strange response with a theory????*** Yet the rest of the FReepers are uninformed idiots?!?! Give me a break.

***It may be an explanation, but certainly not a defence; he could have left the program at any time if he was molested.....

You should never be ashamed for something you did not do. That is a guilt by association big lie.

To: left that other site

What I have observed today is watch where and how the term “victims” is used. In many cases, it is not the children who some consider the victims.

Sad state of the pagan culture in which we live.

In my travels and stays in Western and Central Pennsylvania over a 12 year period (1989-2001) I saw tons of Paterno worship, especially among ethnic Catholics.
