Newt Turns Fire on Cain (ugh!)
FoxNews ^ | 11/11/11 | ALEXANDER BURNS

Newt Gingrich said Friday that Herman Cain should not have joked about Anita Hill potentially endorsing him for president, arguing in a radio interview that harassment is “not something to be joked about.”

“I’m considering Newt. Cain will definitely not get my vote. If I can’t find someone to vote for, I’ll sit out the primaries.”

Any particular problem you have with Cain?

if someone wants to link Penn State to sumthin’, it should be obama and Larry Sinclair, or obama and the former choir director @ Rev Wright’s Church, who assumed room temperature prior to the ‘08 election.

“Herman’s response to a supporter saying “Anita Hill called you and...” Herman answering spontaneously.....”what, does she want to endorse me”. How is that offensive???? “

That’s the other half of it. It WAS NOT even close to being offensive.

Now if Cain had taken a shot like that one of Obama’s daughters, there MIGHT be something to say regarding Cain’s judgment. But Hill is a big girl and she chose to be a public person. Cain is more than welcome to make light-hearted comment about her (and I suspect that even Hill may have gotten a chuckle out of it).

It isn’t. It’s quick wit. I thought it was funny and Newt allowed politico to spin it on him. Not Good.

"“Well, if Newt is pandering to politico to be PC, he screwed up. He should have said “I have no opinion at all on that, maybe Anita Hill does support him for all I know”.” Perfect answer...but too humble for the know-it-all."

Newt said this on the Laura Ingraham radio show & Politico is happiyl reporting it!

“Maybe... Maybe not... Give it another week or so and will see... indicators out today suggest that the Cain Train might be heading in the wrong direction...”

I saw that too. It seemed that people were leaving Cain for Newt. Oh well, it looks as though Newt just put an end to that shift.

What I don't get is why are neither of these two taking on Romney?

It doesn't do the GOP any good to have them attacking each other. It just helps the dims. It's best if each just focus on what they have to offer and why people should vote for them. The voters can make their decisions based on that.

9-9-9, for starters. His idiotic sales tax advocacy makes him toxic as far as I’m concerned. No experience, for another. The Oval Office isn’t an entry level position. Running a fifth rate pizza franchise doesn’t impress me. Neither does shucking and jiving.

Much ado about nothing.

It is not “fire” and the context shows that Newt didn’t have any such intent.

Newt has been above the fray and even supportive to Cain.

Newt went from Professional Student to Professional Politician.

I can't find a reference to where he actually actually worked unless you call being a DC adviser after he left Congress a real job.

Herman said today that if he can’t be Herman, he wouldn’t be runnin’. Herman has had this light-hearted humor thread running throughout his career, and it has served him well. He seems to be cut right out of Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People”. I like him better everytime I see and hear him, and I started liking him a long time ago! He’s one of those people which you are interested to hear what they have to say, because you like the way they say it.

Actually, I really can’t fault you on 999. I will just say that I don’t bother to worry about it. It would have to get through Congress first...but that’s just how I look at it...it’s perfectly reasonable to judge him on it, since he keeps talking about it.

As far as political experience goes, I could care less. The most politically experienced president in my lifetime was Bush-41 (W’s father) and he was a DISASTER in many, many, ways. Next was Bush-43 (6 years as Texas governor), and he lost it right after re-election. The most politically experienced candidate we ever ran (McCain) got his head handed to him by the LEAST experienced candidate to ever run for president. It seems to me that the more experience a politician has, the more out of touch they are with the base (at least as far as Republicans go).

Shucking and Jiving...that’s personal taste. I like it because it shows he’s at ease...unlike Romney who’s a robot.

All in all, thanks for answering me, but we’ll disagree on Cain.
