Newt Gingrich said Friday that Herman Cain should not have joked about Anita Hill potentially endorsing him for president, arguing in a radio interview that harassment is not something to be joked about.

I call it the 85% rule. But his 15% really pi$$3$ me off.
You’d think he’d be smart enough to realize that his remarks actually give Hill’s allegations credibility, not to mention the MSM indignation on behalf of Hill for what Cain joked about. Hill is the left’s darling and will be protected for the rest of her life for what she did for them.
His massive, arrogant, condesending ego trumps everything...to the extent of being self-destructive.
Newt’s right. It was a tacky joke. I don’t think its funny that these women make false accusation against good men like Clarence Thomas and Cain himself.
No conservative likes Anita Hill...maybe Cain is comparing himself to Clarence Thomas as being the “victim” and felt the comment was fitting. However the mention of HER makes me sick!
“Taken in context - Newt made a fair point. Making these comments in the current enviroment with all this stuff going on (Penn State et.al.) doesnt serve Cain well. “
Oh please, let’s get real for a minute before we compare Penn State and even the worst of what Cain’s accused of.
“No conservative likes Anita Hill...maybe Cain is comparing himself to Clarence Thomas as being the victim and felt the comment was fitting. However the mention of HER makes me sick!”
Of course...but I think the questioner had named Anita Hill in the question. If so, it was difficult for Cain to avoid it. I don’t think Cain just brought it up out of the blue.
I don’t particularly mind anyone still supporting Newt tho I disagree about him. However anyone who thinks Cain’s statement was in any way offensive is crazy as hell.
That also includes Cain if he backs down.
This entire issue is designed to attack Newt not defend Herman. Herman didn’t make the joke to start with, it was the dolt who greeted him and brought Anita Hillup. Herman’s response was ‘Is she going to endorse me?’ The guy who raise the specter of the lying Anita Hill was trying to make a joke. The news media turn that around and spittle it out with a clicked response from Newt (the whole context shows a different thing, not Gingrich shooting at his friend Herman) and the street slugs who want to establish a nominee by default push this spin at FR like they’re the gospel quartet. And if you call them on their ambush they then turn on you and try to shut you up for exposing their foible. Ain’t the primary season fun?
As usual you’ve got it completely bass ackwards. No one believes Anita Hill is anything more than a liberal shill, and Cain’s jesting about her supporting him is seen as something everyone should laugh about. You and your fellow Perrywinkles are completely clueless.
“Everybody need to know the source is Politico.”
You still have to look at it in context. I doubt that even you think Politico made up this story about Newt attacking Cain on Anita Hill.
Does Newt have an evil twin?

NEWT TURNS FIRE ON CAIN - POLITICO By ALEXANDER BURNS, Politico 11/11/11 3:18 PM EST Newt Gingrich said Friday that Herman Cain should not have joked about Anita Hill potentially endorsing him for president, arguing in a radio interview that harassment is not something to be joked about.
You can read more of what he said at the Politco site.
“I didn’t make that comparison. Newt mentioned Penn State in the interview as one of the things going on that’s shaping the current mood/environment.”
Other than in Newt’s (sick) mind I have trouble believing that ANYONE links Penn State with with this crap on Cain, or Anita Hill.
In other words, Newt can link anything he wants, but that’s his problem and it DOES NOT give him immunity to attack Cain on Anita Hill in this way...and most people on this thread are not going to give Newt a free pass on this.
The comment reveals why Newt is not to be trusted. “Sexual harassment” is a politcal crime, and Newt is too friggin’ stupid or cowardly to admit it. Instead, he aligns with the leftist commissars.
“Newt is talking practicality.”
Newt is being an opportunist at best, duplicitous at worst, and the Perrycrutons weighing in are icing on the cake. Oh yeah, we should take Anita Hill seriously enough not to joke about her? Give me a break, Anita Hill was the nadir of the liberal’s sleaze attacks, they didn’t work then and they won’t work now, and Gingrich’s sniping about it shows just how flaky he is.
Does Newt have an evil twin?
Glad you noticed, too. Been that way since he entered politics.
I give Cain an A+ for recognizing who the Hill being referred to was in an instant and providing an appropriate, in context response.
