Mike Pence, Mitch Daniels, Paul Ryan, Bobby Jindal, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, Jeb Bush conservatives all year long have been wishing, yearning, even begging people who arent in the presidential race to enter the fray and save them from what seems like a frighteningly uninspiring field of candidates. Yet could it be that the sharpest, most accomplished, most campaign-savvy, and most full-spectrum conservative in a quarter-century of presidential contests has been in the contest all along, working harder than anybody, making at least as much intellectual sense as anybody, never blowing a debate, and never failing to stand on principle?
The man of the hour could be that perennial underdog, Rick Santorum.

Who’s that?
Sounds like a toilet cleaning product.
...because there are already two anti-RINOs taking on Romney, and they are keeping him alive by splitting the anti-RINO vote.
Only a ROMNEY SUPPORTER would want a third one in.
Why not Santorum? Because he's a snarky sanctimonious corrupt pissant, and a proven loser. Thats why.
I like Santorum. At his age and with his background I believe he would be a great VP pick. His ability to help win PA could be huge. I say “could be”, because many PA conservatives have not forgiven him for backing Specter (sitting R senator at the time) instead of Toomey. That could be easily fixed if Toomey would stand with him and give his full support to Rick. I do not think he is ready for the #1 spot yet, but in 8 years he would be.
I did this and I did that and I was the only one to do such and such and I’m the only one that believes this and I’ve been doing more than......
Sounds a lot like someone else we know.
Ahhhh endorsing Arlen Specter comes to mind...
Well, this is NRO, a liberal blog stealing the name of a formerly conservative journal.
Because he’s more of a populist then a true conservative, he’s more like the senate version of Huckabee.
I hate Mittens, but I would love to see a solid Conservative who has been vetted thoroughly like Santorum start taking off. If there is going to be any honesty, Santorum is the only doctrinaire Conservative running, both personally and his voting record.
Santorum 2012
I wanted Mike Pence
Rick is probably a nice guy..... there are a couple of job openings in Pennsylvania.... (Penn State needs a chancellor)
And can you show me where this so called Populism is? He had an 88% ACU rating even being a 2 term blue state Senator.
Ehhh, I’m not getting a tingle up my leg over the prospect.
I sort of wonder, too, what he might do to a GOP ticket in Pennsylvania, a state that might be up for grabs in 2012. I know he’s from there, but the voters clobbered him in 2006 and left the Senate with an abysmal approval rating in his home state.
Santorum? The people keep saying Herman Cain! Santorum in single digits so don’t be an eejit!
Romney's stagnant, Perry's impolded, Gingrich is highly risky damaged goods so better have a 4 ace to try playing
Anything to keep the Tea Party peons at the back of the bus.
In the debates Rick Santorum has impressed me as a spoiled child or something like that. He’d better shoot for the VP slot. But I don’t know who’d want him.
“I hate Mittens, but I would love to see a solid Conservative who has been vetted thoroughly like Santorum start taking off. “
Who the heck knows how thoroughly Santorum has been vetted? I live in Texas, and we didn’t vet our governor of 11 years...until 3 months ago. You might be surprised at what’s in his file box.
Really? So voting for Medicare Part D was being a “doctrinaire Conservative”?
Your time is up.
When he pulled that juvenile crap, there was no going back for me.
