The mayor of Richmond, Calif. plans to skip her citys Veterans Day memorial events to attend an Occupy rally, a choice thats prompting anger and criticism.
Mayor Gayle McLaughlin will miss a Veterans Day salute Friday in favor of an Occupy Richmond public speak out, the San Jose Mercury News reported.
McLaughlin defended her decision, telling the newspaper that the city is not sponsoring the Veterans Day event, and the rally she will attend will honor Scott Olsen, the Iraq war veteran injured at an Occupy Oakland rally last month. Richmond and Oakland, both in the San Francisco Bay Area, are about 12 miles apart.
I choose to honor our veterans, not only on Veterans Day, but daily, by supporting an end to military warfare to prevent further fighting and dying in needless wars, she said in an email. I am a strong supporter of Veterans for Peace and Iraq Vets Against the War.

She’s unaware that there were wars before Iraq? Sprechen sie Deutche bitch?!
The farther away this twit stays, the better.
...another day in Obamaland....
Richmond is as their Mayor.
She’s safe.
Richmond, Berzerkly, Oakland, San Francisco... all the same cloth.
A Vet who marched in the Boston parade just called the Howie Carr Show. They were dissed throughout the city. People who clapped were looked upon with disdain. He said Boston is the worst city for supporting Veterans.
See how far they have plunged since the original Tea Party.
There was information last week that Scott Olsen- the Iraq vet injured at the Oakland rally was the person who started a website called “I HATE MARINES.COM”.
Someone needs to tie this all together in the Oakland/SF area & see if this is the truth.
If he is the same person, I have no sympathy for his injuries which he got because he decided to go there & witness or participate. Stay home & stay out of the protests!!!
Far left liberal Obama supporters, no doubt.
From the article:
“I am a strong supporter of Veterans for Peace and Iraq Vets Against the War.”
Both communist organizations:

And,

So, what she is saying is that she supports anti-military, anti-American communist organizations.
Furthermore, Van Jones spoke at her swearing in ceremony in 2006 (see page 6):

And, he (Van Jones) gave a stirring speech at her reelection campaign party in 2010:

Ergo, she’s a full-blown COMMIE!
Cheers
Folks, it is Richmond, CA, which is pretty much the murder capital of Northern Cali, including Oakland. It’s all ganged up, the schools are a mess, and you’d have to be out of your mind to live there.
I hadn’t known that the mayor was an old, white lady. Richmond is, well, ethnically diverse to say the least.
Anybody see the ‘L’ in the middle of her forehead? It’s faint, but its there if you look.
They ever hear of the Boston Massacre?
Sorry CA residents (which includes my brother!) but I’m rooting for the Big One to happen! Everything to the west of the San Andreas fault line should slip into the sea...
Best part? All you Freepers in Fresno would have ocean front property!!!!!
Are any of us REALLY surprised?
Should not be a surprise, according to her Wiki bio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gayle_McLaughlin
On November 2, 2004, McLaughlin was elected to the city council of Richmond, California, on the Green Party ticket. She has been involved with the Richmond Progressive Alliance (RPA), a non-partisan liberal group in western Contra Costa County, composed mostly of Green Party members, as well as left-leaning and progressive independents and Democrats.
McLaughlin was born into a working class union family. She is the middle child of five daughters born to a unionized carpenter and a housewife.
During the 1980s, McLaughlin was an activist with the Central American solidarity movement and a steering committee member of CISPES (Committee In Solidarity with the People of El Salvador). She also played an active role in the North Star Network, a national networking effort to unite progressives, and in coalition-building efforts with Rainbow/PUSH.
McLaughlin graduated summa cum laude from Bridgewater State College in Massachusetts. She continued her education with two years of graduate study in psychology at Rhode Island College, with additional graduate study in education at U.C. Berkeley Extension.
McLaughlin has worked as a postal clerk, teacher, caregiver for the elderly, and tutor/clinician for children with learning disabilities. She has also worked in the capacity of support staff for various not-for-profit health and educational organizations.[citation needed]
According to published reports, McLaughlin filed for bankruptcy in 2003 to avoid paying more than $100,000 in student loans and other forms of debt.
I have no love for Boston but I find it hard to believe that Boston is the worst.
Says it all.
They no longer make any effort to hide it.
One would hope, but Richmond is in the middle of the SF Bay Area, probably Leftist Central, USA, and it's generally a depressed city and a fair amount of low-income folks. Probably most are Obamanites.
