Former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky has been charged with sexually abusing eight children, with something like a dozen more also claiming they were victimized. That's horrible. Powerful PSU figures appear to have attempted to cover up what they knew. That makes it even worse.
But if one rumor turns out to be true, this may become a story too awful to compare to any other.
There's been nothing reported by an investigative journalist or law enforcement official so far, but a handful of media members are talking about investigations into whether Sandusky may have shared some of his victims with other adult males.
From two days ago, here's Dan Bernstein of CBS Chicago:
@dan_bernstein FYI: names are being x-checked w/Sandusky's Second Mile, and there are other older adult men with "curious" relationships. Only the start.
Thursday morning, Mark Madden, a Pittsburgh radio host who wrote a story seven months ago envisioning Sandusky's downfall, went on WEEI's Dennis & Callahan Morning Show to discuss the scandal. At the 7:15 mark here, he's asked about the "next shoe to drop." Here are his remarks:
I can give you a rumor, and I can give you something I think might happen. I hear there's a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile foundation. And, hold on to your stomachs because this is gross, I'll use the only language that I can, that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to donors. This is being investigated by two prominent columnists as I speak.
Madden also speculates it'll be revealed that Sandusky was told to retire as part of a cover-up.
CBS Sports' Gregg Doyel tweeted the following later in the morning, appearing to cite a source besides Madden:
@greggdoyelcbs I'm told Penn's atty general has this sick Sandusky rumor on the radar. Warning, awful read http://t.co/Wy4uiuiD
We can hope none of this is true, but multiple outlets are saying it's being investigated. If it is, let's then hope investigators are able to find it never happened.
I believe we ‘ain’t seen nothing yet’. Just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s going to come out. I want to know if other ‘elements’ were involved here besides just the uni. I suspect ‘mafia’. Pedophilia, pornography, and human trafficking are huge in those circles. Money, money, money. Wonder if any politicians were involved as well?
The fact that Bradley is now head coach is proof that it’s still Football First at PSU. He’s been there for what, 30 years? No way he didn’t know what was going on. They’ve made him coach because there’s no other way to finish out the season except with an insider at the helm. Again, Football First. The only right thing to do that is point is to shutdown the program, for at least a year, and re-build with entirely new personnel, from top to bottom. Let the players transfer and play right away instead of having to sit out a year, and let any player who just wants to stay at PSU and finish their education on scholarship do so.
I was thinking that as well. I was in the ‘Million Dollar Band’ at Bama quite a few years ago and we had to deal with an opposing team’s ‘fans’. Things got out of hand and we had to be escorted by a number of state troopers to leave the stadium. I can’t imagine what it would be like after something like this.
Interestingly enough, a similar question was put to a former PSU player on ESPN a few days ago. The player was wide receiver O. J. McDuffie, who played for PSU from 1988 to 1992, I believe.
When asked a similar question as yours, he sort of hemmed and hawed, but then he added that though his teammates didn't discuss it, he had heard from "friends" in the community some "rumors" about Sandusky. The interviewer didn't press it further.
So to answer your question, it appears that as far back as the 1980's, there were people in the community who knew about Sandusky.
The further you dig, the worse this story gets.
“NCAA Coaches (Nobody wanted him when he retired”
Yes, I find this to be one of the most interesting questions surrounding all the news. Successful assistant coaches, even at Sandusky age would have been picked up by someone.
In the aforementioned radio interview, sports journalist Mark Madden claims that Sandusky's activities were know throughout college football.
I have thought the circumstances of DA Gricar’s disappearance after inexplicably failing to prosecute Sandusky seemed very like there was a bigger pedophilia ring
with some very heavy hitters
Gricar either offed when he showed up at and appointed time and place with his hard drive to prove he’d wiped it, or disappeared to save his life or that of his family
I can only tell you my suspicions. It’s quite a coincidence that Paterno finally “won” his “winningest coach” award not too long ago. Had to get that record before the dam broke!
When I first heard the Gricar story, I knew this thing was much bigger than just Sandusky.
Certainly rumors had to be flying around for years about all of this, but I never heard of them until a few days ago.
From Wikipedia:
“Sandusky is married and has six adopted children.[23] He also took in foster children.[5]”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Sandusky
Someone find those kids, especially the foster kids, and talk to them and any friends they had in that household. NOW!!!!
Wondering if they were all male foster children. For some reason, foster children seem to be expendable. Just ask the ones who were put in homes with sex offenders.
Do you think the Penn State football program should receive the NCAA death penalty for 2 years because of the behavior of persons in authority over that program? Or is such a penalty only proper for schools that do really, really bad stuff — like provide athletes improper payments?
Were other people from Penn State involved in this “Second Mile” charity? Why aren’t we hearing about any investigation into the board of the charity?
It's not fair to hundreds of thousands of innocent folks who identify with Penn States, but those words will now take their place alongside many other infamous events of recent US history: Columbine, 9/11, Kent State, My Lai, Watergate and others that first bring to mind the infamous events associated with the names.
Absolutely, just like a Terror cell. There is a Command element, a tactics cell (evading police), intelligence cell (finding vunerable children), a supply cell (kidnappers and those that "get" the children), other logistics cell (such as money defense fund to hide illegal activities), and possibly a training cell (to recruit new members).
Pedophiles and child abusers should be killed on the spot, on principle.
Yes. I had posted earlier today that I had listened to Mark and thus adding the NCAA coaches to the list of 'possibles'.
“I have thought the circumstances of DA Gricars disappearance after inexplicably failing to prosecute Sandusky”
It’s actually quite explicable if you put it all in the right context to make sense.
Joe Paterno should be in prison.
I think Madden means Sandusky is rumored to have given these boys to donors of Second Mile -- the organization he ran and had access to the bank accounts -- and not PSU.
Just remember - Sandusky was not gay, and homosexuality had nothing to do with this, according to the MSM.
