Rick Perry said Thursday "it ain't a day for quitting nothing" after his big "oops" during the Republican presidential debate the night before.
"Oh, shoot, no," the Texas governor said Thursday morning during a series of media appearances, when asked if his debate gaffe would propel him to pull out of the race.
On Wednesday, Perry was on stage with rivals Herman Cain and Mitt Romney in Rochester, Mich., when the debate sponsored by CNBC turned into a comedy of errors.
Perry was discussing the three government departments he wanted to cut but forget one of them in a major flub that left some of his supporters declaring his campaign was over.

That was a cringe worthy moment last night, but I can think of four or five other candidates I’d rather have drop out first.
Totally agree, watched the gaffe in question and he simply forgot what he wanted to say. It happens all the time to people and I’m sure a presidential nominee debate is an immense amount of pressure. Cut the guy some slack.
Kind of like I am probably going to do with Newt?
Come on, let us focus on the issues, not the media silliness.
This gaffe reinforces the past evidence that Perry is a moron.
I am still waiting for Cain to say anything.. “I did not attack that woman”..and something about 999..
Good! I like the strategery.
And I would vote for him if he is the nominee.
Relatively few voters watch the debates. More voters are concerned about the candidates hair, for heaven’s sake.
Imagine it were OBAMA last night in a debate, with Nominee Perry going in for the kill.....and WHIFFING? Are you all ok with that? No f-ing way. Politics aint beanbag. I feel bad for the guy, a fine Christian man. But we need someone to shred the Pretender. Perry CANNOT do it. Period.
Why can’t he even answer a question about dropping out intelligently? I mean the everyday man stuff is fine but it is hurting him. Didn’t his mother tell him that “ain’t” isn’t a word?
well, it doesn’t matter if he quits or not. Voters quit already on Perry.
My garage door is more intelligent than Perry, but the real problem with Perry is his fanatic support for illegal immigration (opposition to fence, e-verify) and his insults against those who oppose illegal immigration. The “it can’t be done” attitude is outrageous.
We were able to get man into moon and we are able to stop illegal immigration.
I think folks will think Perry is human for his mistake and who can’t relate to a memory lapse — especially in front of hundreds of people in the midst of media more than ready to crucify him.
He is garnering more support today just by being the underdog. He will be the GOP nominee.
And we have a president who uses a teleprompter to talk to 7 year olds. Gimme a break!
I thought we were trying to get rid of the teleprompter reader not replacing one for another. The reason to get rid of Obama is to get someone BETTER not worse.
CBS news has nothing better to report on with Obama overseas and dissing Israel,Holder lying, and Obama emails with Solyndra busting the Obama admin?
“Relatively few voters watch the debates. “
Debates are significant. Primary voters do watch them and others will hear about them.
Just ask Nixon after his TV debate against Kennedy. Or GBW after first debate with Kerry.
Or Perry after his first couple of debates (his numbers collapsed after his first debate fiasco).
"We're under attack? Yes, General, I have the third launch code. Umm. Wait, the first two are...the third one is... no that's not right. Incoming nuke? Oops."
Maybe Perry just forgot to write the three agencies down. He was flipping through something that looked like notes on the podium.
Unfortunately, I think 4 boo-boos on National TV doesn’t help him.
I would guess his financial supporters didn’t think their investment would go south like the stockmarket did yesterday.
Ha. He's got a bit of the luck of the Irish -- this thing will get no traction outside of political junkies, Joe Six-Pack is entirely focused on watching this Penn State tragedy go supernova.
He's now running for fame and the personal wealth that will follow. He will be able to retire comfortably after he "loses". He might become a popular televangelist or hunting show host. God has a plan for him but that plan is not becoming President.
