Rick Perry said Thursday "it ain't a day for quitting nothing" after his big "oops" during the Republican presidential debate the night before.
"Oh, shoot, no," the Texas governor said Thursday morning during a series of media appearances, when asked if his debate gaffe would propel him to pull out of the race.
On Wednesday, Perry was on stage with rivals Herman Cain and Mitt Romney in Rochester, Mich., when the debate sponsored by CNBC turned into a comedy of errors.
Perry was discussing the three government departments he wanted to cut but forget one of them in a major flub that left some of his supporters declaring his campaign was over.

Happens to everybody. He doesn’t need to be ridiculed over it.
Cardinal Ximinez : NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise!
(Cardinal Ximinez of Spain regards them with a nasty grin. He is flanked by Cardinal Biggles [in aviator's helmet] and Cardinal Fang.)
...Surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our three weapons are fear, and surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our four...no..
The press is killing him because he forgot his debate notes....? That makes him inferior, that means he cannot lead? NOT!
And we have a president who uses a teleprompter to talk to 7 year olds. Gimme a break!
I guess everything IS bigger in Texas; especially the gaffs.
I’m not so sure he should continue. If he can’t handle the pressure of debates, do we want him in the White House? I’m starting to lean to Newt. Sure, he has baggage, but his mind is razor sharp, and isn’t that what we need in these crazy economic times?
That would be absurd. Quit before a single vote is cast?
Come on, let us focus on the issues, not the media silliness.
If Rick Perry quit the race everytime he said something stupid...
Uh, wait a minute....
If he’s planning on doing away with these departments, it would be important enough to remember which ones, notes or no notes.
But it happens to him all the time. It’s obvious he doesn’t have what it takes upstairs to be president.
Bump in a long road. A road paved by cash which Perry has piles of....
I had viewed Rick Perry as my fall-back candidate if Sarah Palin chose not to run, but unfortunately I have discovered that he isn't nearly as conservative or as smart as I was led to believe.
Considering the moderators, the venues and even the audiences are packed with sycophants, I would not be at all surprised if he has no surprises going into one of these debates media events.
I admit I was a Perryfile before the debates started. During them, watching his less than artful mannerisms, I moved on to Cain. Regardless, Perry has no chance of becoming president whether he wins the nomination or not so he should just be an old soldier and simply fade away. Perhaps he could take a few more with him so the anti Romney crowd is not split amoungst a horde of candidates.
“The press is killing him because he forgot his debate notes....?”
Isn’t that kind of like a soldier going into battle and forgetting his rifle?
I’m sorry, but this guy isn’t ready to be President. I’m still trying to figure out how he became governor.
I’m less worried about the constant gaffes than I am about the things he does on purpose, like giving favors to illegal aliens and insulting conservatives if they object.
Or has everyone forgotten about his strong support for the Texas-Canadian North American Union Highway? He was in lockstep with Bush on that one, and committed Texas transportation dollars to back it.
Meg Whitman spent $160 million and where did it get her?
Ford spent a fortune launching the Edsel about 60 years ago. If a product is a lemon, people aren’t going to buy.
