Police in riot gear deal with Penn State students gathering to support Joe Paterno

STATE COLLEGE -- More than a thousand Penn State students are moving between the campus and downtown, chanting in support of football coach Joe Paterno, whose job has been questioned over his handling of sex-abuse allegations involving a former coach.

Crowds began to gather around 10 p.m. on Beaver Avenue. After police in riot gear told them to move along, the students moved to Old Main. They sang the alma mater, professed their love for Paterno and profanely denounced Sandusky. They pointed toward Penn State president Graham Spanier's still-lit office. Then, after a brief "back to Beaver" chant, the crowd returned to Beaver Avenue.

If I was a parent of a student, i would be there now to bring them hoe for at least a week. The school cannot possibly think it can hold classes at this point. Shut down for a wekk, every one go home. This needs to cool off...and highy charged emotional kids,no matter how smart, will only do something stuid. Parents, get there now and get your chidren away from this.

Try to bring down the capitalist system? The police will mostly stand by and watch, even if you defecate on their car.

Protest at your college? Support your football coach? Man, the cops are gonna be all over you for that!!! They got the riot gear out, and they mean business!

If Penn State University can’t continue education because of a problem with their football, then they should just cut the program.

Paterno was and is an enabler.. or worse..

He reported it to the campus police. Why not make your complaint to them, the athletic department head, the school president, the district attorney - all who have more authority than Joe. Why single him out and not the ones with authority?
