...The Easton Express-Times is reporting the Penn State president Graham Spanier will by out -- either by resignation or firing -- by the end of the day.

Easton Express-Times

Penn State University President Graham Spanier will either resign or be voted out by the end of today, a source close to the board of trustees told The Express-Times.

An interim president, most likely Executive Vice President and Provost Rodney A. Erickson, will be appointed and a nationwide search for a permanent replacement will begin...

Spanier was made aware in 2002 that a graduate assistant coach had seen former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky allegedly sexually assault a young boy in a shower in the Penn State locker room, according to grand jury testimony. Spanier did not involve police, according to testimony. Spanier has not been charged, but there have been many calls for his resignation.

Hard to say. It’s probably significant that Spanier wasn’t allowed to resign. Maybe PSU is getting ready to deny certain post-employment benefits? Or maybe the university thinks that it improves their defense toward the inevitable lawsuits? Who knows?

1. They have to get Spanier out since he has vowed to defend the honesty and integrity of Curley and Schultz with PSU money and there is no way to clean house when you have a president stating the house isn't dirty.

2. This may be a way for them to not to have to pay Spanier's upcoming legal bills.

Yesterday Rush alluded to why the investigation was stymied but he couldn’t say it without ending his career. We can say it here. The guy was a member of a protected group-a homosexual.

LOL! Rumor has a way of morphing into ‘fact’ on that radio station.

It would seem that Penn State has vastly smarter trustees than Duke.

Paterno seems to think he is safe now because he has said he will retire after this season. Every game they play from now on will be a circus. If he has a new found desire to do the right thing he would retire now.

Maybe this has been told, I can’t remember reading it...but, why/how did this finally get revealed? And why has it taken so long? Those poor boys. I imagine for them that there are mixed feelings about having it known that they were sexually molested by a man. That has to be difficult for them to have the public find out. And, yet, also difficult for them to have kept quiet about it all these years. Either way the bottom line is that this is such a horrid, disgusting thing to have happened to them and anyone who had any inkling of it without taking action to get rid of Sandusky years ago should be criminally charged, fined and humiliated. No matter how much the college loves them!

Next up: Paterno. Get that old flatulent autocrat out of there.

Sorry but Paterno did his job by immediately reporting what was relayed to him to the Athletic Director. It was not his responsibility to investigate. It was not his responsibility to make a possible false claim to the police department as many are accusing him of not doing.

Had he taken it upon himself to go to the police with an accusation against Sandusky, this would have been headline news. And if that accusation had proven false, Joe Paterno would have been fired and subject to a probable libel lawsuit.......

As I said, Paterno did exactly what was required of him under the extremely extenuating circumstances..........

And tho it probably means nothing to you, the Grand Jury itself has stated that Paterno cooperated fully with the investigation and had fulfilled any initial obligation he had in this sad incident.

Don't be so sure about that. Paterno has been exhibiting signs of senility for years and the Trustees kept extending his employment contract. I think that he's been a public embarrassment at press conferences.

Gee, ya think a guy who wrote a doctoral dissertation on wife swapping would do sexually inappropriate things of all sorts?

Say it ain't so,

In fast-moving stories a caller’s statement is often taken as a credible report. Not good.

Frankly, this Saturday’s home game (the last home date of the season, “Senior Day”) is going to be a 3-Ring Circus if they don’t get him out before then. I can’t see how the university can permit that.

Yes, it's the last home game. And while Penn State fans say they want to make this about the "seniors," guess what? If Paterno is allowed to stay thru Saturday, the MSM and the fans will make it all about the god, JoePa...as his final home-game "bow out."

The problem from a PR perspective?
The + side: A way for Penn State & its fans & student body to try to somehow "honor" Joe...
The downsides? Imagine politicized signs from fans pro & con about the scandal...
Imagine the Media circus focused simultaneously on his leaving & the scandal -- meaning that much more air time all devoted to the scandal.

And if they let him stay, all of that will be repeated on the road for their final game.

Bill Reiter of Fox Sports already described the chaotic bedlam on the Penn State campus Tuesday: See Chaos has engulfed Happy Valley

Ya wanna a chaotic environment? Imagine a Nebraska-Penn State game with Joe Pa there and security at an all-time high...with emotions running out of this orbit in all directions!

These people knew about and covered all this up because of two things: money (from sports) and the power that goes with it. Typical liberals willing to overlook anything, do anything, say anything as long as they can control people, take their money and direct their lives. Oh and don’t forget a little murder and perversion thrown in for good measure. Sickening.

State law says it has to be reported to Child Services. Joe saw it was not reported. Joe saw that nothing was done. Joe saw that Sandusky had free access to Joe's shower room. Joe saw that Sandusky was still holding football camps in Joe's facilities.

Joe kept quiet while Sandusky raped.
