...The Easton Express-Times is reporting the Penn State president Graham Spanier will by out -- either by resignation or firing -- by the end of the day.

Easton Express-Times

Penn State University President Graham Spanier will either resign or be voted out by the end of today, a source close to the board of trustees told The Express-Times.

An interim president, most likely Executive Vice President and Provost Rodney A. Erickson, will be appointed and a nationwide search for a permanent replacement will begin...

Spanier was made aware in 2002 that a graduate assistant coach had seen former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky allegedly sexually assault a young boy in a shower in the Penn State locker room, according to grand jury testimony. Spanier did not involve police, according to testimony. Spanier has not been charged, but there have been many calls for his resignation.

He is a despicable man, if the reports are true that he ignored or covered up for Sandusky. I wonder how many millions and what kind of pension Spanier is going to get out of this. Probably will live quite nicely without the job.

Next up: Paterno. Get that old flatulent autocrat out of there.

Hard to say. It’s probably significant that Spanier wasn’t allowed to resign. Maybe PSU is getting ready to deny certain post-employment benefits? Or maybe the university thinks that it improves their defense toward the inevitable lawsuits? Who knows?

Lol. I agree JoePa has to go NOW, not at the end of the season. But I have to say that “flatulent autocrat” is my new favorite expression!

WIP Sports Talk in Philly is reporting that Spanier was fired.

All the other news venues right now are saying the Board of Trustees gave him two options: Quit or be fired.

It's possible he's already told them that they'll have to fire him. (In which I'm sure they would have no hesitancy in "honoring" such a request!)

Now if we could only accomplish the same sort of “house cleaning” @ all of the other liberal universities...especially those run by the state...think how much $ taxpayers would save!

What did Erickson know? And when?

Paterno is going to be allowed to retire at the “end of the season.” Frankly, this Saturday’s home game (the last home date of the season, “Senior Day”) is going to be a 3-Ring Circus if they don’t get him out before then. I can’t see how the university can permit that.

Just wait until their next road game, it’s going to be brutal.

People saw.
People knew.
A few people even talked.

But ultimately it got swept under the rug for years because of the rush to Saturday, those autumn game days when people funnel MONEY into Happy Valley for the biggest thing in the state.

Spanier, like many other big-time college Presidents is/was so much like a KING in his domain. No one DARES to question him, and EVERYONE sucks up to him.

His word is law on Campus, and especially in the town around. You don’t want to have your biz, or your campaign for local office BLACK-LISTED by the liberals running the school, do you?

Your sister needs a job? We might have something in Administration for her, IF you play along...

This is as much a problem of the Culture that allowed it, as it is the scandal itself.

Paterno should go immediately as well.

Just passing it along. WIP also reported that the Phils resigned relief pitcher Ryan Madson. Apparently they had to walk that back.

What did Erickson know? And when?

This could show us how difficult it might be to replace anyone @ Ped State...which is exactly why the Attorney General's office pinpointed this all as a "cultural" issue of cover-up.

What about that Asst. A.D. who cancelle Paterno's press conference Tuesday? What? He had no clue what's been going on, either?

We know McQueary is the wide receivers coach. He needs to go. And if any of the asst coaches were around in 2002, I'd say clean house as a total sweep.

Investigators and interrogators need to sweep across the entire campus.

Deservedly so. I pity the players, though.

The NFL had the decency (and rightly so) to suspend Michael Vick over dogs.

“What did Erickson know? And when?”

It’s being reported there is a real split between the University trustees, and members who want something done, NOW.

The B of Trustees President could be the next to go.

Putting male homosexuals and boys together is a recipe for sexual predation. The Boy Scouts figured it out long ago. The Catholic Church has suffered greatly and continues to hemorrhage money thanks to infiltration by homos. Now they are in the military. You can lay the success of the movement at the feet of hollywood where homosexual writers portray the deviant behavior as benign, intelligent and all about love. Those involved in public health know that male homosexuals are the #1 vector for the spread of at least a dozen infectious diseases and have the highest incidence of raping little boys—look at this guy, molesting, not one boy but a dozen or more.
