Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry on Tuesday blasted as irresponsible the repeal of the policy that barred openly gay troops from serving in the military, saying dont ask, dont tell was working well.
The idea that the president of the United States wanted to make a political statement using our men and women in the military as the tool for that was irresponsible, Perry said in an interview with ABC News Christiane Amanpour.
The ban was lifted in September, ending a provision that President Barack Obama said had forced gay and lesbian service members to lie about who they are.
Perry, a former Air Force pilot, accused Obama of playing to his political base at a time when the U.S. is fighting two wars. But the governor wouldnt say whether he would have been uncomfortable serving with openly gay service members.
I dont ask that question, he said. If an individual in their private life makes a decision about their sexuality, from the standpoint of how theyre going to practice it, thats their business.
Among other snippets from the exchange, part of ABC News daylong effort to talk with every GOP presidential contender:
Perry declined to delve into the sexual harassment allegations against rival Herman Cain, saying he doesnt have an interest in getting off my message of how we create jobs.
He brushed aside assertions that his flat-tax plan would bring in less revenue, requiring cuts in federal entitlement programs. He said the best safety net for an American is to have access to a job.

Q&A: Lighter side of Perry
Worst job hes ever had? Building fences with a jackhammer.

Ping please.
This is all wonderful. I hope Perry understands the importance of not blowing it all by foolish immigration policy. Why should the US be the only country in the world with the onus of accepting any tramp with scarcely a peep? At least without asking very much of the tramp in return? We believe in the dream of going from rags to riches here, but we do insist the dreamer wakes and walks that way too.
Don’t ask don’t tell is the de-facto policy almost everywhere in business
I dont know the sex lives of anyone here at work and don’t care to. If someone started talking about it every day (gay or straight) people would set him straight about only talking about work at work really quick or fire them for wasting company time
Why do Military people get to flounce around openly?
I totally agree. Sex should not be discussed in the workplace and the last thing I want to know is what my co-workers do in or out of the bedroom.
By the way, this thread is about Perry’s position on don’t ask, don’t tell so take your whining about other issues somewhere else.
Unfortunately military men and women share their bedroom(s).
Not a ‘private’ matter and once accepted the repeal of DADT cannot be repealed. What has been done (affirmative action) cannot be undone!!!
Larry Sinclair can tell you why Obama repealed it.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

Anyone with a brain knew that the minute this was repealed the “social” lawsuits would start. Sure enough, wanted Military policy changed so that “Partners” would get same benes as Wives etc.
The MILITARY is not a Social Club. Their job is to protect Americans and America. AND THEY DO A GREAT JOB TOO.
If someone is so SENSITIVE about their personal choices. They DON’T belong in the military
Hope you numb-nuts are happy.
If you all get zotted for this crap I'm gonna LMAO.
HUGE thank you for saying that!!!!!!!!!!
I recall several threads wherein Cain was being lauded for espousing his positions and several Perry supporters chimed in to say that Cain was behind and that Perry had already stated his position on those issues.
I did nothing more than what your fellow fellow PerryBots did in those threads; I commented that Perry was behind, in this case by about a month because he is. Get over it.
I didn’t do any of those things.
You [and your fellow hijackers], on the other hand, posted on a thread info that had nothing to do with that
particular thread.
That’s Hijacking, Buddy.
I’m not going to *Get Over* anything and I’ll call you on it everytime I see it.
Quit making a mockery of this site.
And your opinion of this forum is really of no interest to me. Why don't you share it with the proprietors?
And this thread has not been 'hijacked'. It's hours old and has less than 20 posts. It's a dead thread because no one but you 3%ers gives a damn about your pro-ILLEGAL alien candidate, a man so stupid he purposely insulted the very people whose support and votes he needs. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, that La Raza Rick.
You just keep in mind what I said.
Lol....anti-Perry trolls are a hoot...must be their day off from shooting at illegals..
