Unasked Questions at Herman Cain's Press Conference
National Review Online ^ | 11-08-11 | Jim Geraghty

Herman Cain has completed his press conference… which could have used questions like, “Did you rent or upgrade a hotel suite during the time period in question? If you did, why did you rent a luxury suite in a hotel in a city where you lived at the time?”

SNIP

Other questions that were not asked:

“When former colleagues ask you for help in finding a job, do you often take them to dinner, just the two of you?”

If he or she reserved, upgraded or actually rented a hotel room there are records.

If the records work against Cain they will be obtained and released by anti-Cain forces.
If no records are relesed it means they do not exist or do not validate the accusation.

Good questions. He was treated with kid gloves unless he was asked any of these questions.

But that aside, why would he be willing to kill the entire GOP for his ego? He’s obviously done something out of line, or he wouldn’t have had two employment claims against him (no, not every boss even in the 1990s had this). He needs to address this matter, which he has constantly managed to avoid doing.

But in his mind it’s all about him. I think it’s all about getting a conservative candidate with smarts. He’s clearly not the one.

What kind of reporter is this?

A simple review of NRAss and NRAss Foundation will toss up two different organizations. The "foundation" is apparently an educational program/fund operated separately from the NRAss main lobbying body.

The reporter appears to have not bothered doing that sort of simple research. If he did he would not describe the Blond Lady as a "former colleague" ~ since she wasn't.

The rest of his rant is of equal quality.

Can somebody who knows those people give 'em a call and get his A$$ out of there ~ the guy is just a rent seeker. The upcoming campaign can do much better without pukes like that wasting bandwidth.

Yeah, for liberals and RINOs, it’s not the nature of the evidence (real or fake) that is relevant. It’s the seriousness of the charge.

that’s not true.

as explained on various news shows many times, corporations find it cheaper to make financial agreements and settlements

in order to avoid legal fees.

The NRAss had one claim against them. The NRAss Foundation had a claim against them ~

Cain was told the claim against NRAss had no merit. I fail to see how Cain is involved in the separate claim at NRAss Foundation ~ an organization overwhich he appears to have had no authority.

You'll have to come up with something or you will make a lot of unfriends here who ask that you be DELETED.

NRO needs to change its name to National RINOs OnLine.

What a piece of cr*p that formerly conservative magazine has turned into. Bill Buckley must be rolling in his grave.

I was not a big Cain supporter, and I’m still not quite sure about what he would do in office, but this kind of stuff really makes me mad.

NRO still shilling for Romney, I presume.

“Did you rent or upgrade a hotel suite during the time period in question? If you did, why did you rent a luxury suite in a hotel in a city where you lived at the time?”

I could think of plenty of reasons for a CEO to rent a suite in a hotel in the city he lives in -- and not the one the snarky columnist is implying.

A very common reason for a CEO -- especially one representing the hospitality industry -- to rent a hotel room, would be as a hospitality suite. Similarly, he might have wanted a room for business meetings, during a conference in the hotel. He may have planned a late night of schmoozing and glad-handing business contacts & wanted to avoid a drive home afterward. Etc. etc.

Please FReep a Yahoo poll on the main search page, lower right side, asking who you believe, Cain or his accusers?

Whoa! At least one of them was a termination, not a settlement. Which tends to establish that the sexual harrassment claim was baseless. And evidently, this is the lady who was offended by the hand gesture and "You're the same height as my wife." Which, wouldn't you agree, is baseless? We don't yet know any details regarding the other.

Plus, I would submit that any man who headed a 300-person office during the nineties probably faced at least one accusation of sexual harrassment during his career.

Can Cain sue for slander? Can’t even begin to consider the coordinated planning behind these charges. A corrupt media allows this to happen.

Its not about him.

We’ve been treated to malicious gossip.

There is no proof any of the alleged incidents happened. The media’s interest in his sex life has pushed aside the issues the campaign wants to discuss.

Quite frankly, the assault on the character of a decent man is reprehensible. And again, no one should be asked to prove a negative.

Then there’s the statute of limitations. The most recent allegation goes back ten years and the oldest something like 15 years ago.

How on God’s green earth that is relevant to Cain’s fitness to be President today, I don’t know. And quite frankly, I don’t care about them because they appeal to the worst of human nature.
