Ron Paul's Statement of Faith (says he's "accepted Jesus Christ")
Pundit House ^ | July 13, 2011 | Ron Paul

Posted on 11/06/2011 6:40:00 PM PST by Kurt Evans

My faith is a deeply private issue to me, and I don't speak on it in great detail during my speeches because I want to avoid any appearance of exploiting it for political gain. Let me be very clear here: I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and I endeavor every day to follow Him in all I do and in every position I advocate...

America became the greatest nation in human history because a dedicated band of Patriots believed their God-given rights were worth fighting for, even if it meant challenging the world's most powerful nation in what many deemed a "hopeless" cause...

Since I'm asking for your vote and your trust to lead this nation, let me tell you a little bit about my background and beliefs.

My parents raised my four brothers and me on a dairy near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they set clear examples for each of us about faith, honest living, and individual responsibility. Their Christian values helped inspire two of my brothers to eventually enter the ministry, and provided me with the foundation I needed to practice medicine and one day become a U.S. Representative.

In addition to my time in Congress, I am proud to have delivered over 4,000 babies as a country doctor in Texas. As I trained to practice medicine, I became convinced without a doubt that life begins at the moment of conception. I never performed an abortion, and I never once found an abortion necessary to save the life of the mother. In fact, I successfully helped women struggling with their pregnancies to seek other options, including adoption...

We must stand for life—not allow millions of innocent children to continue to be slaughtered with the government's approval.

We must follow the Biblical mandate of using honest weights and measures—not printing money out of thin air in almost complete secrecy and then handing it over to oppressive dictators.

We must only send our men and women to fight for our country when the mission is clear, every tool needed to win is provided, and we respect the Constitution by declaring war...

As President, I give you my word that I will only exercise my authority within the confines of the Constitution, and I will work every day to rein in a runaway federal government by binding it with the chains of that document.

No, you’re right. Stoning rape victims to death and threatening another country with genocide are shows of Christian love

Communist China threaten the U.S. as did North Korea and other countries. Would you suggest based on threats, we go to war with them too?

(1) Ron isn’t hostile toward Israel. (2) “Don’t ask, don’t tell” was bad policy. (3) The flawed logic behind controlling RU-486 is the same as the flawed logic behind gun control. (4) Ron talks to people of all political views about legalizing drugs and prostitution. (5) He also talks to people of all political views about reining in the Federal Reserve. (6) Your assertion that he’ll say anything to anyone to get elected is absurd.

I agree we should defend our borders. Let’s just have as many bases overseas as other countries. Let’s just not spend many many times as much for our military as anyone else does.

I understand that many freepers do make a living making bombs and planes and they don’t want to lose their jobs. But we need to make serious cuts in government spending even if it hurts our defense industries.

We’re just spending too much money. We have to figure out places to make cuts. And if the defense industries hurt because if it, well, that’s just the breaks. We can’t afford to buy all the planes and bombs they want to sell anymore.

Perhaps you should reboot and get yourself updated.

Alex:

PaleoPaulie also never DOES anything to federally ban abortion in response to Roe vs. Wade which is a FEDERAL court decision creating a non-existent federal "right" to slice, dice and hamburgerize 50+ million of the innocent babies whom your God and mine has lovingly formed in the womb for His purposes. I suspect that you are every bit as pro-life as I am.

You and I have our religious differences since I am Catholic and you are a fervent Reformed Christian. I want to argue here our similarities and not our differences. Despite our differences, we worship the same God, each in his own way. What would Jesus DO about the seemingly endless abortion holocaust proceeding from Roe vs. Wade. I do not imagine and I don't believe you do either that the Jesus Christ Who is our Savior would say: Well, that's a state's rights issue. Let the state's do what they please about babykilling. I would imagine that His treatment of the moneychangers in the Temple would seem verrrry mild compared to what He would DO in response to Margaret Sanger's disciples. I am waiting for Ron Paul to follow Him in this respect and make good on his statement that he "endeavor(s) every day to follow Him in all I do and in every position I advocate."

For some years, I have made a point of not looking for arguments with Reformed Christians (particularly not with those who, like you, seem utterly sincere in their faith). Ron Paul may well accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. If not Jesus Christ, then who? That proposition should seem obvious to any Christian, albeit a proposition of great significance. OTOH, that acceptance does not make the acceptor infallible and Ron Paul is not. If he wants to accept a status quo in which abortion mills would flourish in NYC, LA, Chicago, San Fransicko, and, perhaps, Denver and some other cities, that is NOT following Jesus Christ.

I don't really KNOW what Herman Cain believes but he does not have a voting record to review or a track record of making apparently principled statements (however erroneous) in favor of "state's rights" as to tolerating abortion mills and their impious and grizzly business. Herman Cain is apparently a Baptist minister in addition to his other accomplishments in life. I am certainly inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt when he stumbles rhetorically on the subject. If he were to be a pro-abort in public office or even express a wrongly principled stand in favor of abortion in such a way as to evoke a response of believing him a policy pro-abort, that would change but the Rev. Mr. Cain has not crossed that line yet by his inexperienced and contradictory comments when matched against his strong statements of pro-life principle.

That does not mean that Cain is my candidate. I don't really know who is at this point. I just know that my candidate is not and will not be the Mittwit, Ron Paul or Jon Huntsman, each of whom has disqualified himself in his own respective way.

May God bless you and yours!

Kurt Evans:

1) Ron Paul is no more hostile to Israel than is his beloved potential trade partner (money, money, money!) Ahmadinejad and all those nice cuddly mullahs;

2) Throwing practicing "gays" and other sexual perverts out of the military upon proof of their perversions was good policy and necessary to morale. DADT was a degeneration of that good policy. Abolishing EVEN DADT was a further degeneration of that policy and paleoPaulie OWNS that further degeneration. There is an economic law (Gresham's Law) that says that bad money drives good money out of circulation. Likewise, tolerated or even affirmative action-subsidized rump ranging in the military will drive sexually normal people OUT of the military. As paleoPaulie fails to understand, the military exists to kill people who need killing and to break their things, not to swing purses at them and throw hissy fits or assert limp-wristed political correctness;

3) RU-486 exists ONLY for the purpose of murdering innocent babies and, whatever SCOTUS may hallucinate, is NOT constitutionally protected in text or necessary or even permissible "interpretation.". Guns have many lawful (natural law and gummint law) uses and the right to keep and bear them enjoys full textual constitutional guaranteed status.

4) Another poster has cited paleoPaulie's claim of following Jesus in all that he does and in every position he takes. WWJD? Would Jesus support legalization of "free market" narcotics and hallucinogens and of prostitution? How about "gay" prostitution? I don't think so. He was kind to the woman at the well and told her of her many sins but He also told her to sin no more;

5) Good for paleoPaulie. The Federal Reserve badly needs abolition never mind "reining in." Even a stopped clock....twice a day..., etc.

6) It may be absurd to say that he will say ANYTHING to get elected, not because he has lost the contest for master purveyor of public insanity but because he won't simply claim to have been raised on the planet Neptune or many other statements he might possible make. OTOH, even paleoPaulie must recognize in rare moments of sanity that he is going to get the ass-kicking of the century in GOP primaries as his swan song from politics.

Primaries are NOT straw polls. The poll tax has been abolished and money bombs will not buy turnout of the usual gang of left-wing druggie anti-American abortion-loving and homosexual college students who make up soooo much of his constituency.

Ron Paul must have five moons in the purple sky surrounding his home planet.

Under Obozo, we may wait until nuked by Iran to find out. Fortunately, Israel, under Bibi Netanyahu won’t wait to find out. Israel is wearing the pants for western civilization now at least until Obozo is gone and neither the paleosurrenderman nor Huntsman nor the Mittwit is elected.

Oh you have to be kidding me.

If a country can orbit a satellite they can launch a nuke when they get it.

You Paul guys know about as much of modern military strategy as you boy does...

Iran is incapable of doing any military harm to the US. I’m tired of wasting so much money on foreign policy. We’re broke. We need major major cuts everywhere. Including military spending.

Sounds like you've fallen off the fear train. This is very dangerous. You might actually start thinking for yourself. I'm not sure that's allowed anymore.

Our open borders and the people in government who supposedly represent us are the true enemies of this nation.

If the mullahs get nukes how long will it take them to get some jihadi to touch one off on US or Israeli soil? Not long at all.

That's silly. How would they get it into this country? It's not like they can just walk in.

We will never be so broke that we should stop defending ourselves.

Maybe we should spend some of that money to close our borders. And make it very clear to Iran how quickly we can make them disappear if they attack this country.

Oh, and by the way, 911 was an inside job.

Since he’s for legalizing DOPE

I would have thought you would have been happy to have become legal. I take it you're not a big Timothy Leary fan. That's too bad. Now there was a man who understood freedom.

Including legalizing heroin.

I went back and reread the gospels this morning to be sure, but was unable to discover Jesus's belief on the legalization of drugs. On what do you base your authority?
