It is not simply a matter of covering the events attending to the individual protests in New York and scattered around the country. There are larger themes to address.

What are the themes? How should The New York Times cover this movement that resembles no other in memory?

It’s not a “movement” and it’s not “unprecedented.” It’s just the 1960s redux, where you had a bunch of aging leftists rabble rousers from a previous crop of Marxist losers, a flock of privileged university students, and a few ugly feminist types all complaining because they weren’t paid a monthly stipend simply for existing.

They never had any doubt about how the "Teabaggers" should be covered, though.

But don't you dare call them bigots.

They say a picture's worth a thousand words, so how about a publishing a few snaps like these:

One picture is worth 1000 words (and lots of pictures are worth lots more words!). You nailed it!

Every single asshole disguising their face should get a prompt wood shampoo and a trip to Rikers.

“How should The New York Times cover this movement that resembles no other in memory?”

LOL. This reminds me a lot of the early anti-war movement in the 60’s. Mostly naive folks with a dislike of an issue. Organized and coopted by a small cadre of very hard-left revolutionaries. The hard-lefters would manage to provoke some batons and tear gas. That would radicalize some of the hanger arounders. Then more provocation. Etc.

So they have iPhones today. Big deal.

Is the NYT admitting they do not know how to cover the news?
