As he appeared on stage Friday before a gathering of conservative activists, Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain gave no indication that he was discouraged after a turbulent week marked by allegations that he had sexually harassed former employees. Cain opened his speech with an obvious jab at President Obama, and at rival Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who had delivered his own speech just moments before.
Before I get started, I want to know, whose teleprompters are these? Cain said after taking the stage. I dont need em. Maybe theyre for somebody else.
Then he got philosophical, warning the audience against a life without dreams.
The American dream has been hijacked, he said. But the good news is, we can take it back.
Cain touted his business background and defended his 9-9-9 tax plan. He made no mention of the sexual harassment allegations.
But he did address another topic his relationship to the billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch, who are credited with having founded Americans for Prosperity, the group that hosted the summit.
Im very proud to know the Koch brothers, Cain said. This may be a breaking news announcement for the media: I am the Koch brothers brother from another mother.
David Koch, who was sitting in the front row of the packed ballroom at the Washington Convention Center, stood as the crowd burst into applause

icwhatudo for SPEECH-WRITER!!!!!
Yes, I know...see post #58 (for those in Rio Linda).
Having a great time at the summit. Easy for me to get DC since I live inside the Beltway.
Both Romney and Cain gave great speeches. Herman didn’t use the prompter and it really showed. Both got standing Os multiple times. Cain got more people standing.
Occupying freeloaders are dropping in the street...
Personally, I am just not worried about that. This guy has run organizations large enough and successfully enough that he has had to pick good people and let them run with things. He has obviously done well at it.
Deb, DC is full of people who know enough. Question is when will we know enough?
He knows how to tweak the left just like Rush does!

Good point. Thanks.

I've never seen or read anything to suggest that Petraeus doesn't view Israel as a valuable ally. Can you provide sources/links to support your statement? Thanks
A year before the election and you want to know his cabinet ?
Thats an unusual request to say the least.
When has a candidate ever named a cabinet at such a time ?
I thought Petraeus was in the Army. A general.
Have no worries, Cain will surrounded himself with capable people. Hopefully he is not the micro-manager type like Romney would be. Reagan was never a micro manager. One does not have the success in fiercely competitive corporate world without a good leader at the top.
In reality, the worst thing which can happen is we get a nominee who thinks he knows everything. As smart as I am, even I concede I do not know everything :-)
Another radio talk show pushing Romney all the time is Michael Medved. Now that Cain is polling competitive with Romney, Medved is finding every little meaningless mis-statement by Cain and repeating it.
Foreign policy is not really complicated, just follow the guidelines below:
1) Do not bow deeply to Muslim potentates.
2) Peace through strength works better than appeasement.
3) Understand clearly who our friends are and who our enemies are. Do not give our enemies ANY assistance.
4) Always lookout for US interests first.
5) Make North America energy independent.
6) Institute a FAIR TRADE policy, not just free trade.
7) Do not try to memorize names of all international leaders, or details of geo-political situation in each country. Appoint the most capable Secretary of State and other close advisers, and get briefed by them before meeting any foreign leaders.
I am positive a president Cain will not disappoint on any items above.
He’s making a tougher target for the drive-bys than Palin was.
“Liberal heads exploding if he is elected. The left fears him just like they fear Palin. He is their worst nightmare. They will stop at nothing to stop him.”
Wait till he picks Rubio for VP.
Things go better with Koch.
