The harassment scandal highlights Cain's rift with Iowa's most dangerous conservative talker.
Herman Cain has messed with the wrong Iowan.
One strand of the multifaceted scandal unfolding around the Republican presidential candidate this week has been the charge that Cain treated female staffers of Des Moines-based radio host Steve Deace in a manner Deace found "awkward and inappropriate."
While Deace has refused to describe the interaction that prompted that characterization, he has also spent the week relentlessly pounding Cain on his nightly talk show -- and taking to task the conservatives who, at least at first, largely defended the former Godfather's Pizza CEO.
Deace says his major objections to Cain predated the scandal and are based on matters of substance. But there's no question that, for whatever reason, Cain has become the top target of Deace's fierce -- some would say demagogic -- ire.
And that could be a big problem for Cain. Because Deace isn't just any radio talker -- he can plausibly claim to be one of the most influential right-wing figures in the Hawkeye State. Four years ago, he played an instrumental role in Mitt Romney's loss, and Mike Huckabee's win, in the Iowa caucuses.
Now, Deace has his sights trained on Cain.

Somebody needs to tell this guy that Darlin’ happens to be a term that is widely used in the south. Means absolutely nothing and applies to both male and female. Was collecting checks at a meeting last night. Younger man asked if I needed a form or anything and I said, “Just the money honey”. He looked at me like I had broken the first rule in the PC book. So it might be a generational thing also.
That was the first thing I looked for but there were no donations for the past 4 election cycles listed under his last name in Iowa.
"I am informed that the sexual power of Negroes . . . are the cause of the favor with which they are viewed by some white women of strong sexual passions in America and by many prostitutes. At one time there was a special house in New York City to which white women resorted for these 'buck lovers." The women came heavily veiled and..." [WIKI]
Was it racist in accusing Cain of being "too close or not minding his place" when talking to these women? It becomes difficult to say what he did that was uncomfortable when reactions to another can be subjectively interpreted through prejudices that one may not want to publicly admit.

Really...big, gaping hole in the accusation. Seems that way with all the accusations so far.
I have not lied about him in any way, and I go to these threads because I am interested in the topic. If they are threads only open to a “Cain Caucus” that is not allowed to post dissenting opinions, please get the mods to approve that.
I feel that he is cynically using a lot of innocent conservatives for self-promotion, and I also feel that this is going to blow up very badly and will probably significantly impede our ability to get a good candidate and to defeat Obama.
Could be for any number of reasons. About the only other thing would be mindless Google searches on him, or listening to various radio broadcasts beginning late last week. No, I’m not going to volunteer. I can’t think of anything that would turn me off more after the 5 minutes I heard.
It’s a strange world now! I am an old geezer of 67 but when I think of some of the things I have seen and heard from women in the workplace it is simply mind boggling to see these assertions against Herman Cain. Forty years ago I was considered a better than average looking young man, I have had women actually pat me on the butt at work, I have had them make all sorts of verbal suggestions that were clearly heard by others and once when someone old enough to be my mother literally asked me to “take something out in trade” with her and I tried to ignore her SHE CALLED MY SUPERVISOR AND CLAIMED THAT I WAS HARASSING HER! There were plenty of sexually aggressive women in the workplace back in the sixties and seventies who were looking for action and didn’t particularly care who knew it. Some of them were not above making accusations of harassment against any man who didn’t want to cooperate. There is little a man can do to defend himself in such a situation, if he tells the truth about it he is generally laughed at. Ninety nine times out of a hundred it is assumed that the woman is the aggrieved party and is telling the truth.
Your post is hilarious. Very funny stuff!
I had the same thought for a short time. But nothing to pin it to so forgot it. I honestly think it’s more him than Cain he’s focused on.

If you think anything - any small thing - about what is happening to Cain is funny - you may need a good ol’ fashioned gut check...
Perrywinkles, bet find a new way to get people to look at your candidate. This didn't work out too well.
It’s only funny (to me) because “Perrywinkle” refers to female Perrybots and you used it in context of “He”. Otherwise, you were spot on...
“Because Deace isn’t just any radio talker....Four years ago, he played an instrumental role in Mitt Romney’s loss...”
If he can torpedo Romney, he has some redeeming qualities.

You are right. My boss, as I said 24, sometimes didn’t like the teasing - not propositioning but teasing about his butt etc. But, I know the women doing the stuff and it was horeplay and nothing else. But, you are right it was women teasing a man and not vice-versa. Women are very capable of sexual harassmentBut, with the insane, pathetic politically correct environment we live in a pat on the head could be consiered harassment. People are just loony today. It makes me long for the ‘50s again!!!!
