MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.--Don’t tell Newt Gingrich, but he’s not running against a general-election campaign against President Obama just yet.

The former House speaker campaigns for president with the air of someone with a real shot at the Republican nomination, steadfastly declining to take shots at his GOP rivals on the stump, lobbing criticism at the White House, and describing for audiences what his first presidential press conference would be like.....

As much as I like Cain, I’ve given Newt a good, hard look.

Do you think he could overcome his negatives (and the fact that to our media-conscious culture, he’s not an attractive man) and beat Obummer?

Gingrich has two main issues to overcome
1. His flip flop on issues from global warming to immigration to health care, which happened within the last 4-6 years.
2. Woman issues. Adultery and sex scandals.

Newt’s “flip-flops” are miniscure compared to the lifetime liberal Willard Romney. And, Newt has never waivered on abortion. Pro-life all the way. He’s also a new Catholic, and that’s a plus for him.

Honestly, I think he's our best chance. He is authentically Conservative, unlike Mitt, but still has appeal to the insider/Establishment GOP because of his connections and experience in Washington and his intellectual appeal.

His “baggage” is twenty years old, and old hat. That horse was been beaten into dust quite some time ago. Plus, it's not like a DUI charge that nobody previously heard about; there's no surprise to drop.

Newt would beat Obama, which is why I support him. Look what just DEBATES have done for him in a short period of time. Newt would do what McCain could not, and make Obama look unprepared, unknowledgable, and outmatched. The public will feel confident making the switch, a confidence needed when there is an incumbent in office who needs to go.

The public wants to fire Obama, but they need to be assured the guy they replace him with is ready and capable, and has better ideas. Newt will soundly convince them of that.

Not with me! I won't vote for Newt in the primaries, but will in the general, only because anything is better than a Marxist, socialist, crack smoking, etc, etc. second term destroy the U.S.A. president.

I’m all in for Newt. I like Cain, but he just doesn’t have the years of politcal experience/thought that it takes. Newt would humiliate 0bama in a debate.

I have no doubt Newt will wipe the floor with Obama.. While the emperor had no clothes in 2008, the press was able to fool enough people.. now in 2012, no way.

No doubt the press will throw everything and the kitchen sink at Newt, he’s got the skin to take it.. while Romper Room can’t handle a simple press conference.

If you think the crap they’re pulling on Cain is bad or what they did to Palin was bad, just imagine if Newt gets the nomination. Obama waxes his behind.

Gingrich has two main issues to overcome

To obtain YOUR vote, perhaps.

Frankly, I'm tired of the purity game. We are not electing a pope or a saint.

The liberals have a distinct advantage as they would nominate and vote for a ham sandwich if it advanced the cause. They delight in making a U-bend in our gun barrel of disapproval a la Bugs Bunny as we pull our tsk-tsk trigger and jettison the most effective candidates.

Well, when the kamikazes of statism are hitting the aircraft carrier every minute I don't much care if the skipper spent a night or two in the Motel No-Tell a few years back. So like it or not it's time to take a page out of their book and elect someone who can box clever with the best of them. Gingrich would wipe the floor with Obama and anyone else in a debate and he wouldn't need to glance at a single word of prepared notes to say nothing of a TelePrompTer.

I would support Newt Gingrich in a heartbeat. He’s tailor made to be president.

Just like when he was Speaker of the House.

That’s part of the problem, professional politicians. For all the talk on FR about the D.C. establishment there seems to be a lot ready to throw in with it.

Please add me to your list. Was listening to Newt speak on the judicial system in America and on activists judges, the supreme court, etc. He spoke of our founders intent and I was cheering him on ...almost jumped out of my seat. With his baggage which is no heavier than some of the other candidates...I would still vote for him in a heartbeat. Why wouldnt anyone want an intelligent conservative for president? GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEWT

A Newt candidacy removes one arrow from the Rat quiver—the stupidity charge. But a Cain candidacy not only removes the racism charge, it exposes the filthy ugly racist nature of the Left when they attack his racial credentials.

What I like about Newt which I also like about Cain is that he is not hesitant to take on the Rat Media. Back in the ‘90s he was their b****. After watching the Rat media ride W like a pony for eight years, a Pubbie who fights back is refreshing, and in the political world necessary.

Newt is a conservative at his core. If he can refrain from wanting the Rat Media to like him, he will stay the course.

I hope he has learned not to trust the Rats and their media. I am truly weary of the Charlie Brown Republicans.

Newt/Cain?

“Frankly, I’m tired of the purity game. We are not electing a pope or a saint.”

Well, I’m a saint (as long as you don’t dig too deep), and I’d vote for Newt.

A wise person once said “One person’s indiscretions are pretty much the same as everybody else’s indiscretions”

Newt may very well be the best person for the job of all those running.
