many posters here on FR will continue their coordinated assault

The only thing "coordinating" my criticism of Goodhair is you endless, up-at-dawn and post-past-midnight Perryposting.

The Bush campaign put some flyers out on McCain about something

I remember a debate where GW showed a flyer to McCain, saying that they were put on cars around the area. McCain said that he had nothing to do with it. GW then asked McCain why his name was on the bottom of the flyer. "McCain for President".

W had him dead on as McCain sputtered another denial.

McCain was busted playing the same games he accused W of. It was a very cool scene.

You’re right. Now I remember. Thanks for reminding me.

So, why is Thompson lying?

Tipping my hat to Nixon, and to one of his zaniest black ops guys, G. Gordon Liddy. I just read Liddy’s autobiography recently, and he was the master of dirty tricks.

Too bad he got caught!

Drew is a legend.

MY point was the use of disinformation and dirty tricks that Nixon was infamous for using.

Nixon is used as an example in the wiki entry, for example.

Who benefits? Mitt benefits the most. The Dems also benefit — if Mitt gets the nomination, some conservatives will be disheartened enough to stay home or go third party.

There have been a lot of charges about a smear campaign against McCain in South Carolina, but nobody's been able to trace it back to Bush.

McCain was busted playing the same games he accused W of. It was a very cool scene.

McCain put out a negative flier about Bush's tax plan at a time when McCain was condemning negative advertising and Bush called him on it.

That's something, but negative comments about somebody's record and personal attacks aren't the same thing.

When I read he supported NPV I was dismayed. One CANNOT be a Conservative and support NPV.

Don't feel bad, the guy I was pushing for GOP chairman (Saul Anuzis) has been pushing it here in Michigan lately.

Cain's Mark Block has "accepted" the denial of Curt Anderson:

The comments by Curt Anderson to CNN directly contradicted a claim by Cain that he had once told Anderson of being accused of sexual harassment.

Anderson, who worked on Cain's unsuccesful 2004 U.S. Senate campaign in Georgia and now is a consultant to Perry's campaign against Cain and other Republican contenders, insisted that Cain never told him about the accusations.

"It's hard to leak something you don't know anything about," he said. Asked directly about the conversation Cain claimed they had eight years ago, Anderson said: "I don't have any knowledge of any of this and, you know, it's just not true."

Cain's chief campaign strategist, Mark Block, told Fox News later Thursday that he accepted Anderson's denial and wanted to move on from the controversy that has dogged his candidate all week.

"Until we get all the facts, I'm just going to say that we accept what Mr. Anderson has said, and we want to move on with the campaign," said Block, who had earlier called for Perry and his campaign to apologize to Cain for allegedly leaking the sexual harassment allegations to the media.

Suspect #1 Karl Rove

Another interesting tid-bit for those who believe home builder Bob Perry/Perry Homes (no relation) is a Gov. Rick Perry supporter.

Disclosure reports show that neither Bob Perry nor his wife have donated to Rick Perry's presidential bid. Bob Perry has given money to other candidates but not to Rick Perry. The biggest recipient is Mitt Romney. Bob Perry and his wife gave a combined $5,000 to Romney's early this year and $500,000 to the super PAC Restore Our Future that supports Romney.

In 2008, they supported Romney's nomination with a $5,000 donation between them. According to disclosure reports Gov Tim Pawlenty received a combined $10,000 to his presidential campaign and another $60,000 to his political action committee from Bob Perry and his wife. Bob Perry is also the top donor to the Karl Rove-linked super PAC American Crossroads.

Bob Perry supported "Swift Boat" group also.

Politics ain’t beanbag folks. I hope Cain hires a few shrewd jungle fighters of his own and soon as the Democrats will make this look like Romper Room should he be the nominee.

Since this broke, I have said all along, who stands to benefit from this???

Inserting old news into the race for the nimination, and blaming another campaign for leaking it, while they stand to the side nearly blameless...

Thanks for the link. It was an excellent article. Thoughtful. Experienced voice. I was a big fan of Fred Thompson in the Presidential race. I liked his message. He would have beaten Obama, I believe. I like Romney even less than before. Why does Romney want to be President so much???????
