The Greek government teetered on the brink of collapse on Thursday over plans for a referendum on a euro zone bailout with turmoil in the ruling party casting grave doubt on whether Prime Minister George Papandreou can survive a confidence vote.

Could we send all the occupy whatever folk over there?
It’s so great over there because they have these great social systems, and besides these occupy whatever folk would fit right in.
This might turn out to be an interesting weekend - that’s when devaluations, coups, etc. usually take place and why traders clear their accounts on Friday and re-enter on Monday.
Particularly over Cypress. There is a significant Muslim population in Greece. If Greece decides to expel the Muslims because of austerity, expect a flare up with Turkey. Also, Turkey has been rattling sabers over the Greeks and Israelis doing oil and gas exploration off Cypress. Turkey exports a lot of NG to Greece, and losing a customer will hurt their economy.
Good idea. We should just load all of the commie retards blocking the Port of Oakland onto a big container ship and send 'em on over.
Why is the whole world economy hanging on the daily rambling and status of the Greek economy? Why is it important enough to swing the markets by billions and billions if not trillions of dollars more than the Greek economy is worth?
The Greek economy can’t be any more important than say a few minor states here in the U.S.
We used to see currencies fail without the slightest notice to the market.
Seig heil. Germany growing into the big dog on the block for all of Europe again. They are the one to contend with. I haven’t paid much attention to the Germany military since I retired from the Army. But, I served over there for 10 of my 20+ years. I just wonder if they are doing any build up.
Like “Generalissimo Francisco Franco is Still Dead”
Their military and intelligence fingerprints are all over the place, the Balkan wars were a direct result of Germany’s meddling.
One thing I like about Greece is their olive oil. Hopefully olive oil imports will not be affected.
Let them build up. They shouldn’t have to carry the weight of EU on their shoulders.
That well may be (and I think it true), however they, as a group...and being quite proud, have been publicly humiliated. They do not like that...In fact they are boiling with rage.
I think they will vote to default just to say “screw you” to the EU and the West in general.
All hell is about to break loose. IMHO. It is starting over here in Oakland. Chicago, has been gearing up with it's hate whitey mobs for a while...so they will probably be second. NYC, Philly will be looter-ville. It's not going to be pretty. The OWS fools are being swallowed up as we write, by some of the worst actors in the Left, behind the scenes and the riff-raff of society are jumping on board for free Nike outfits. The Purple People Beaters are getting their t-shirts ready for some action.
I'm no expert on any of the financial stuff. But just reading about this for the last 3+ years...It is clearly just the bitter end of the shell game, or Ponzi scheme...call it what you want. The ones with the real $$$ know it's the end game and are going to pull their $$$ out any day now. If the latest Greek bail-out would have gone through without a hitch...the $$$ would be in it for one more round. The Greeks are just pulling the plug. The gravy train is over...
I'd buy some guns/ammo, food, stock up on water, buy tobacco to barter, if you have the money to do it. I realize this sounds koo-koo...but, really....We have been living in a wonderful, bountiful time. Nothing ever like it in history, really. Well, other than Rome.
If this Leftist take over really starts to try to destroy the public safety and causes enough chaos...The Islamonazis will take their opportunity to hit us when we are down. Buy lots of water and food...if these supplies are screwed with it will be like Japan after the nuke plant started to melt down. No more supplies in your local stores.
Hey, hate to be doom and gloom...but you can always eat those 300 cans of tuna and drink the 500 gallons of water you put in the spare bedroom. Right? Oh, and the best advice I ever heard about living through VERY hard times? Buy cheap multi-vitamin tabs. The best I've come across are the ones at Trader Joes. I have about 50 large jars of them. Again, what can it hurt? If you can afford it, do it.
Things are moving rapidly. I'd suggest anyone interested read Mark Steyn’s latest book. He eloquently explains just how quickly our wonderful situation can end.
Oh...and I hope I am a kook and am 100% wrong, btw.
What ever happened to Iceland? They went through this same thing, obviously not as many people as Greece, so not as big a deal. I don’t hear any horror stories out of there these days.
We cannot stand by these countries and allow them to act the way they have up until now. Germany will help, but only if these countries demonstrate they are putting in the necessary effort, added the Chancellor.
Wow! The labor unions in Wisconsin would be trying to recall Merkel!
Came to his senses overnight and realized that he's instant Judas Goat without the protective cloak of the Presidency.
That’s right, and didn’t Greek commandos scuttle one of Turkey’s flotilla boats headed for Palestinian occupied Israel?
Given that the EU seems to be teetering, it doesn't seem prudent to hold a referendum (which, I read somewhere yesterday, can take several weeks to organize and pull off).
As for the Greek PM, it seems like he was just trying to shift responsibility for a difficult decision.
