forbes ^

Posted on 11/02/2011 1:12:28 PM PDT by Perdogg

Was the recent attack on Herman Cain’s presidential campaign a professional hit job? Absolutely, says Herman Cain. And he says he knows just where to look for the guy who did it: At 815 Slaters Lane in Alexandria, Virginia, a low-slung former warehouse in the shadow of a coal plant.

An airing of the facts will make his innocence obvious, if the facts indeed don’t merit the seriousness of the charges against him.

IF the other side troubles to tell the truth, and/or the press holds them to honesty.

Recall the Perils of Palin.

Cheers!

If you were not drinking you would not have attributed the charges being made of sexual harassment by four different women, to people engaged in second-hand discussion of those same reports on an internet forum.

You destroy your credibility by continued exaggeration.

The original accusations were stated *verbatim* as "NON-sexual gestures" so how can they be sexual harassment?

Learn to keep your smears consistent, you'll get more mileage.

Cheers!

Actually, it is now four witnesses who are “behind this.” Better to come out now than in the general election.

What witnesses? What are their names?

Well Cain knew about it. After he said he didn’t know, he then changed his story and said he knew about it but he recused himself from the investigation – an investigation that was conducted by his subordinates.

Maybe he signed a confidentiality agreement or maybe it was the NRA who got confidentiality agreements from the women they settled with, but according to Cain he can’t elaborate about the episodes in detail because of the confidentiality requirement. Well, if he didn’t sign anything, it is unlikely that there is a confidentially agreement that binds him

Romney is disliked 10:1 over Perry here on FR.
And that agrees with my personal opinion.

Yeah, making a difference by getting herself into the White House.

The timing of the Anita dog-and-pony show was a little too coincidental for my tastes.

And both the Perrys have to learn, that what plays to Texans, doesn't play well in the rest of the country.

It's a mannerism / style thing. Not everyone else values being a "good ole boy" above the rest of human experience.

Cheers!

I would reply that someone else had hijacked your account!

Sorry GW, if you think I’m wrong on something fine, but to call someone with an almost 13 year posting history a troll is laughable. More so when they agree with you on many things and have the posts to prove it.

Much ado about nothing though! I only responded at all because I do enjoy your posts.

Cheerios!

They say the truth has a certain ring to it. Let's see what these women have to say and evaluate the sound of the bells.

Cheers as well.

Yes, I remember those days. I recall the days when Southern Democrats were known as Dixiecrats and my dad was one of them. When the party left the Dems, most good conservative Southern Dems turned to the GOP. My Dad did during general elections.

I was born well before 1976 -— waaay before. My heritage is Deep South and Copperhead and the Democrat Party was a far different animal prior to the 1940s.

Even today, a Southern Democrat — at least many of them — have far more rapport with the GOP conservative base.

Yes, Dems lie. But this was the Perrys quoted a paragraph or two at a time in their own words, not a sentence-and-a-half drowning in two pages of liberal spin and (mis)-contexting.

Re-read my post, please. It was (as far as I can tell) an interview with Anita, in style presented as a puff-piece.

Not the kind of "serious, hard-hitting, cultured, sophisticated" setting for a Karl Rove / David Axelrod setup job.

I'm glad it's your state. But I think the Presidency is too important to allow parochial loyalties of the kind you'd find in a football rivalry (Gig 'em Aggies! Go Cowboys, beat the Bears!) to supplant serious considerations of policy, or of character.

Perry is too soft on illegal immigration for me: I used to live in Phoenix and saw up close the problems with it. And I dislike the way he was "leaning" on the Gardasil issue; as well as allowing a foreign company to collect the tolls in the Trans-Texas corridor.

Aside from that, he cannot debate or present well outside of certain parts of the Deep South who share his values: and as a Texan, he will be liable to being savaged as "Bush II, only dumber" and "Racist Supreme".

Did you ever notice nobody ever even TRIED the race card against Palin (by contrast, and someone who is not running, so I'm not just playing favorites)?

His take on the economy sounds good, except that he is merely stealing jobs from high-tax states: that strategy by definition cannot work for the country as a whole.

Substantive discussion, not merely scandal mongering.

Cheers!

Thanks for the link. Perry couldn’t be any clearer with his firm and unequivocal statement about this.

Well, I didn't quite shoot from the hip on that post, mainly because my pistol never cleared the holster.

Mainly I shot myself in the knee -- didn't reach the foot, even.

But quoting from Pollutico on a thread like this will get anyone's dander up.

Cheers!

Understandable, Pollutico does have that effect. I should be more careful in the future.

I want to read their words and see their political alliances before giving any weight to this - dirty money talks very well in dirty politics. I still think this is Rove in a divide and conquer for Romney.

You simply retold the same talking points with a few more words than you did the last time.

Changes nothing.

You never have shown any evidence that a Perry staffer had anything to do with Cain being accused of this nonsense.

This is a Dem op, not Perry.

And as far as Anita is concerned, I have been told by people I trust that she is not the reason he decided to run. I am sure she had an influence on the final decision, but he was asked to run by “others”.

You still don’t get it. Blind hatred of what you have read about Rick Perry keep you from seeing that the Dems did this to divide us. Just like you are doing here on FR.

I am growing very weary the division we see promoted here on FR. This battle is just beginning.

“”NON-sexual gestures” so how can they be sexual harassment?”

Someone used reverse psychology at the top of this scheme.

It’s as clear as can be.

“Our campaign had absolutely nothing to do with it. You know I’m disappointed that there’s finger pointing going on and the sooner we get back to talking about the issues that are important to the people of this country the better, and that’s how we get Americans working again.”

“There’s not anybody in my campaign that knew anything about this that’s associated with my campaign in any form or fashion. I mean it, end of story, I mean this is - it’s one of those that’s about as clear cut as I can tell ya. We found out about the allegations against Mr. Cain same time everybody else did.”

Cain is digging himself one heck of a hole.
