Publishing giant HarperCollins, a unit of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., has signed a deal to buy Thomas Nelson from private-equity firm Kohlberg & Co. for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase, which is expected to close later this year, will bring 213-year-old Thomas Nelson under the umbrella of one of the world's media groups and the owner of fellow Christian-oriented publisher Zondervan. Company officials on Monday said both companies will maintain separate operations, but did not comment on possible layoffs at Thomas Nelson, which employs about 600 people.

Fascinating! I never would have guessed that 1 out of every 2 bibles had his fingerprints on them.
Assuming that Rupert Murdoch is, at least, a nominal Christian and respects the Bible and wouldn’t change even a jot or a tittle, what is to stop some future board from making changes of a subtle nature and over time, bigger changes, when they own such a massive share of the market?
Ping for later
There are always jot and tittle changes when translating. It is the original texts that cannot be changed. If our language changes, as it has since King James, then change is in order but it must be kept as close to the original as possible. If someone is reading and a question pops up in his mind, then he can get a concordance and simply look up the original Hebrew or Greek word. Using multiple versions is best. I love BibleGateway and sometimes refer to Young’s literal translation, but I couldn’t use that version every morning before I had my coffee.
I note that Thomas Nelson publishers is coming out with a new “translation” of the Bible called “The Voice”. It’s yet another dynamic equivilence commentary masquarading as a translation like “The Message” or the “NLT” or the “TNIV”.

The market as well as the translators. It’s effective.
Doesn't seem odd to me. Fox News is partially owned by the Arabs.
“the Message” is not even a “dynamic equivalent”.....
It is whatever what’s his name was expectorating from the phlegm of his imagination.

How true. When Augustine read from Jerome’s new Vulgate there was a riot in the church when the people preceived that the word “gourd” had been changed to “ivy” in the book of Jonah.
There is no copyright to the KJV except for letter style and punctuation. Any one with a printing press can run off copies.
***Fox and Friends this morning talked about our country motto. In God We Trust, they put up an on-line poll to suggest new mottoes or keep this one. seemed odd****
“...And this be our motto,
IN GOD IS OUR TRUST...”
From the National Anthem.
The story was a result of a vote in the House.
House Votes to Reaffirm 'In God We Trust' as National Motto
...The resolution required a two-thirds vote to pass, and did so easily, 396 to 9. Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan was the lone Republican voting no, joining eight other Democrats,
the resolution serves to clear up confusion over a speech President Obama gave last year in Jakarta, Indonesia, in which he stated that the motto was instead E Pluribus Unum, Latin for Out of many, one.
For the President of the United States to incorrectly state something as foundational as our national motto in another country is unacceptable, Forbes said. The President is the primary representative of our nation to the world, and whether mistake or intention, his actions cast aside an integral part of American society.
