Perry Tells New Hampshire Voters He’s Strongly Pro-Life
Life News ^ | October 31, 2011 | Steven Ertelt

Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry appeared at a conservative event Friday night and touted his pro-life views, saying he supports de-funding the nation’s biggest abortion business and urging Republicans to stand for pro-life values.

“As conservatives we believe in the sanctity of life,” Perry told 500 activists gathered for a conservative event, according to the Christian Post.

Perry touched on efforts by New Hampshire officials to end taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business and said some candidates haven’t gone as far as she has, in signing a bill in Texas to cut off much of the funding.

“For some candidates the issue of life is a slogan for the campaign. It’s how to get some votes,” he said. “To me it’s about an enduring principal that innocent human life should be protected in all forms and at all stages of life.”

“If you want to stop Washington’s big violations of the (constitution), especially when it comes to the most basic principle of protecting life, then we must make President Obama a one-term president,” Perry continued.

Perry currently runs in third place in New Hampshire, trailing the two top candidates Herman Cain and Mitt Romney — who both receive the support of about a quarter of Republicans in the Granite State.

Perry has received an A grade from pro-life groups for his record in Texas.

“Governor Rick Perry has always championed the pro-life cause, tirelessly advocating for the sanctity of innocent human life in numerous ways,” Texas Right to Life executive director Elizabeth Graham tells LifeNews.com.

“Governor Perry has worked alongside Texas Right to Life, helping shepherd our pro-life bills and eagerly supporting our measures,” Graham said. “As governor of Texas, he has intervened to stop anti-life legislation on a number of occasions, and he has helped clear obstacles when necessary.”

For the pro-life movement, changing the makeup of the Supreme Court is perhaps the number one issue — as the current pro-abortion majority on the high court makes it impossible to overturn Roe v. Wade and allow for either federal or state efforts to provide legal protection for women and unborn children. Graham says her organization has been appreciative of the nominations Perry has made as governor.

“Every one of Governor Perry’s judicial appointees adheres to a strict constructionist style of jurisprudence; neither do they find a right to privacy in the penumbra of the Constitution, nor do they legislate from the bench,” Graham assures. “Governor Perry’s appointments have created the largest, most conservative judicial body in America.”

Joe Pojman, the head of Texas Alliance for Life, has also worked closely with the governor and confirms to LifeNews that “Perry has always been pro-life throughout his time as an elected official.”

“For many years, Perry has supported the fund raising efforts of pro-life organizations, including Texas Alliance for Life, and he has appeared several times at the Texas Rally for Life held at the state Capitol to commemorate the tragic Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision,” Pojman added.”We believe Perry has the right stuff to be president. If elected, he will aggressively defend innocent human life as he has as governor of Texas.”

In his Cornerstone speech in New Hampshire this past Friday night, Governor Rick Perry touted his pro-life views, saying he supports de-funding the nation’s biggest abortion business and urging Republicans to stand for pro-life values.

Elizabeth Graham, executive director of the Texas Right to Life organization and one familiar with Governor Perry's pro-life efforts in Texas steps up to add some additional information about Governor Perry's pro-life record in Texas.

One is known by the company one keeps. Ricky endorsing abortion-worshipper Rooty Giuliani, speaks volumes. Giuli contributed to Pl/Phood and was NARAL's guest speaker.

Giuli's "values" included dumping his wife and kids into the streets to move in his mistress. It was later found Rooty was financing the slut via obscure city agencies. Giuli marched in gay parades under the Man-Boy Lovers banner----and appointed a pedophile to a top city job (Giuli's predator pal later went to jail for stealing city money).

INCONVENIENT FACTOID Ricky and Giuli were business partners. Perry apparently colluded with Giuli to use the power of eminent domain----to take land from Texans to give to a Spanish company (Giuli's law client)----who was building the Trans-Texas Corridor. Noo Yawker Giuli opened a law firm in Texas to facilitate the deal. All stood to profit handsomely.

Clearly, Me-First Ricky does what's expedient for himself. When the vote-crazed governor needed votes in Texas, he was expediently pro-life.

Unborn babies better not count on Perry if this joker ever gets his hands on federal power.

This is my make or break point. I can not and will not support a candidate who is not Pro-life. Romney is dead in the water for me because of this. Cain is a maybe at best because of this.

What I like about Perry is I can look at a ten year record in office and see what he's done and who supports him. I think the Pub establishment has seriously underestimated how strongly the Pro-Life wing of the party feels about this issue.

Which candidate should Perry have endorsed in your opinion? McCain, Romney, or Huckabee?

We see a lot of politicians try to finesse this issue by saying they are Pro-Life, but don't want the govt to be involved in the decision making of a family. When a politician starts with that line it's an immediate red flag and indicator that everything they say is suspect. The politician who tries that line of thinking is "sort of Pro-Life".

Perry is so pro life that he threw his support for 2008 behind Rooty, Wow!

Rooty, a guy that was a believer is taxpayer funding for abortion.

But then that support could have merely been the product of another Perry “backroom deal”.

I will tell you what I won’t do. I refuse to suport a person like Perry.

If he rises again, he will be knocked out totally by his own history.

He is a losing prospect. Even his own state doesn’t want any more of him.

With him, I see a giant trainwreck. So far he is lucky he spoiled his chances with his courting of illegals and poor debate performances, because the rest about him is a huge turnoff.

A lot of people in 2008 didn’t have much choice, but I haven’t seen any Romney ties to Cain, other than a 2008 endorsement, as there is with Perry and Rudy.

By the way, I find this interesting though.

to take land from Texans to give to a Spanish company

This is not correct. Cintra would only manage the road, since they would be putting up the money to fund the project. The State of Texas would own the property, under the Texas Department of Transportation.

I find it quite interesting though that you against the use of eminent domain, except when you're for it. You support putting up a wall up to protect America. That eminent domain action will make the TTC plan look like child's play. We have 20,000 miles of border to protect.

Sorry, I think this 'Liz' has a tad more credibility than yourself:

Elizabeth Graham, executive director of the Texas Right to Life organization and one familiar with Governor Perry's pro-life efforts in Texas steps up to add some additional information about Governor Perry's pro-life record in Texas.

Article & video of Elizabeth Graham speaking about right to life issues and also her org's relationship with Rick Perry

Aside:
Q: What's the height of irony?
A: People who champed at the bit when Cain 'joked' about electrocuting or shooting Mexican men, women, and children but those same people now attempt to hoist the 'pro-life' standard.

Even his own state doesn’t want any more of him.

Except that we just re-elected him less than a year ago to a 3rd term. But I guess that's different.

It was a squeaker. His opposition was worse than him.

Seems he isn’t ahead right now though.

It was a squeaker.

Except that he won by double digits. But I guess that's different.

I'll go ahead and add that he pulled over 50% in a 3-way primary, and against a very financially backed and popular US Senator. But I guess that's different, too.
