Be kind to Bob Shrum. Perhaps the 68-year old is suffering from the not-so-early-onset of some dread memory-loss syndrome.
How else to explain his suggestion on Al Sharpton's MSNBC show this evening that the National Restaurant Association's settlement for a relatively modest sum, in today's litigious world, proves that Herman Cain must have done something wrong? Does the failed presidential campaign consultant's support of Bill Clinton, despite his much larger, $850,000 settlement with Paula Jones while "adamantly denying" her claims, fire any synapses in Shrum's cerebrum?

You were very busy, with a tight schedule and more important problems to solve, and being a practical man, decided to settle with her rather than pursuing a counter suit. That way you don’t spend your precious time on fighting false charges, and you save a bundle on attorney’s fees. What would you do?

Part of that memory loss is forgetting that WE were representative of the people saying if Bill hadn’t done anything, why did he pay out. In the last 48 hours it appears that is no longer a legitimate question. I guess BillyJeff probably feels vindicated today.
Exactly. Organizations and companies do the same thing - which is too bad since it only encourages more opportunists. But rather than spend hundreds of thousands in legal fees just to DEFEND against false accusations (much less bring any counter suit), it’s easier, faster and cheaper to settle for a much lesser amount. It’s NO admission of guilt, just a commentary on how our legal system works. Virtually anyone can sue over anything, no matter how false or frivolous, and the (often) innocent party is forced to hire/pay attorneys just to fight it. Not to do so results in an automatic judgement for the plaintiff.
It’s not fair but it’s the way it is - I’ve had experience with it as have several close to me. Shame on these “journalists” and rogues like Sharpton (who’s an expert on working the system) for purposely ignoring what they know is how the game is played and misleading a less informed public.

Facebook likes are a new way to count “buzz.” Starting from way back, Herman has increased his “likes” by 8% in just the last week. Mitts has a huge lead in “likes” but he has been running for a long time.
