Herman Cain now says he knew of cash settlement with one woman who accused him of sexual harassment
Washington Post ^ | October 31, 2011 | Nia-Malika Henderson

Herman Cain, who spent Monday denying that he sexually harassed two women while he headed the National Restaurant Association, late in the day offered details of an incident with a female colleague that led to allegations of inappropropriate behavior. Also, for the first time, the 2012 presidential candidate acknowledged that he knew about a settlement that was offered to one of the women.

Byron York of the Washington Examiner had details of what Cain said in the interview wtih Greta Van Susteren, which will air tonight on Fox.

“My general counsel said this started out where she and her lawyer were demanding a huge financial settlement…I don’t remember a number…But then he said because there was no basis for this, we ended up settling for what would have been a termination settlement,” Cain said in the interview, as reported by the Washington Examiner. “Maybe three months’ salary. I don’t remember. It might have been two months. I do remember my general counsel saying we didn’t pay all of the money they demanded.”

Cain’s statement represent a reversal from what the Republican said only hours ago, when he denied that he knew about any settlement that was reached after the claims of sexual harassment were made.

You know, I am Herman’s age, and I can not remember what I had for breakfast yesterday. If you asked me details of me getting grilled by the boss, there is no way I would remember 15 years back. Wait till you get in your 60’s.

Memory is the 2nd thing that goes! And I can not rememeber what was the 1st.

I can (remember what the 1st AND 2nd thing to go is as I have just celebrated--or rather, acknowledged it--my 68th) and that is every time I try and read something with small print and can't find my reading glasses....and

I'm reminded of the 2nd thing to go....every time I have to look for (which unfortunately is not that often) my "little blue pills." lol

This whole thing warrants a big fat “BFD”

Is this really the best they’ve got on Cain?

It’s beyond lame.

Agreed. Over the years my memory has slipped. I can't remember how much I paid for all my sexual harassment settlements either. I'll have to ask my wife. I bet she forgot too.

Just another smear campaign. That's all this is.

Has anyone ever identified the accusers yet? I've not seen pics or names anywhere.

No, but hang on two minutes and we'll have their Google map coordinates along with makes/models of their luxury cars in the driveway, no doubt bought with the millions made from suing Herman Cain twenty years ago. /s

Well a difference of opinion is what makes a horse race..I have no problem with how he handled it...but the democrats are probably involved somehow...October surprise, they almost didn’t make it.. There is an outside chance it came from some lefty republicans but I doubt it. Romney came to mind, but Karl Rove has been bad mouthing Cain for a while and just the other day said Cain was toast....maybe he knew what was coming....

When you start talking about putting ice on it or playing hide the Havana, then maybe, just maybe you might have baggage.

Bill Clinton and Larry Sinclair have set the bar mighty high!

because yesterday’s breakfast is not important.

What is important is CORE BELIEFS. You never lose those. I am still following the same principles which I have followed all my life.

A good president is NOT a micro manager. Example:Carter.
Reagan also had bad memory but solid core values. A good president selects the direction he wants country to go. Ther are thousands of people in the executive branch to execute his orders.

Damn. I just now bought a Cain bumper sticker and yard sign. I’m not ready to trash them, but he has GOT to figure out an effective strategy, especially since he knows he’s in for a lynching by the left.
It's not the left, it's the Romney campaign. Oh..... wait a minute, you're right. Never mind.

Apparently, everybody knew it was coming, including Cain. That said, I honestly don’t think this was launched by a GOPer, because it could always be turned against them if the Dems discovered it. To me, it screams OBAMA.

There’s a level of personal spitefulness here that I think is typical of him.

Generally speaking, I would guess that only those who were already anti-Cain will use this story to buttress their positions. Most of that group on this site appear to be either Perry or Romney supporters.

One of the things that I like about Cain is that he realizes that his real opponent is Obama.

Well see my B.S. Meter is pegged into the red. If this was really a big deal wouldn't someone know the name of the accusers?

I got a feeling it may have been one of those get rich quick deals some asswipe lawyer rolled the dice on.

Yeah, but he has to be smart enough and well informed enough to come up with the orders in the first place. Reagan had years of experience in doing this, while Cain has none.

But you’re making Cain sound like Joe Biden, and I’m not sure that’s a selling point...

Cain's weakness is that he doesn't think things through before speaking and gets himself tripped up by assuming people understand what he means.

Just the same, Rock on Herman.

I'm still for Perry, though.
