All three morning shows on Monday hyped a "bombshell blast" against Herman Cain, playing up a story in Politico charging the Republican presidential candidate with sexual harassment back in the 1990s. ABC's Good Morning America led with the allegations.
Co-host George Stephanopoulos, whose former boss, Bill Clinton, repeatedly faced sexual harassment claims, touted, "And this morning, bombshell blast. Major allegations against front-runner Herman Cain. Two former female colleagues accuse him of sexual harassment."
CBS's Early Show ...Crawford also connected the allegations, linking, "...This reminds me of similar allegations that were levied just 20 years ago against Justice Clarence Thomas who, of course, was accused of sexual harassment himself."
.... MAGGIE HABERMAN (Senior political writer, Politico): Uh, I think the story was extremely well reported and it really speaks for itself. We gave the campaign ten days to respond to this. They repeatedly did not directly address the specifics of this. And when one of my colleagues, Jonathan Martin, approached Mr. Cain directly yesterday. And he did not say these allegations are false. He didn't really even address it. So, I think the story is thoroughly reported and, again, I think it really does stand.
STEPHANOPOULOS: The sources are anonymous for the most part. You speak to some members of the board of the National Restaurant Association. They said they knew nothing about this. Did you speak to the women involved?
HABERMAN: You know, we spoke to many sources. I'm not going to specify who we spoke to. I think we spoke to a lengthy roster of people who were around the NRA at the time, former board members, former staffers, as we said in the story. But, I think I'm going to let the sources have protection.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Why can't you say you spoke to the women?

All this hoopla from unnamed sources?
“I totally missed that.”
Different campaign. One of many.
Cain has them scared. Not bad for candidate who was supposed to be nothing more than a novelty and stalking horse. The liberal media is pulling out all the stops in a mud slinging fest. I hope Republicans have enough class to not join in.
Just had ed frikking rollins, hit man, on to ‘discuss’ it.
” ... this is more like a skeleton in Herman’s closet.”
Or, if untrue, a ghost.
Sexual harrassement is defined as anything any woman says it is, depending on her mood, the time, place, how much money the woman can get for making the accusation or if she can get promoted. So true, I’ve seen it a couple of times, the guy didn’t stand a snow balls chance in Hell! Did he only try to open a door for a lady? Did he ask some ladies, anyone for lunch at Hooters? Simply Anita Hill, par deux fois.
Probably because it was such a harmless situation it would prove to be of great embarrassment to the reporter and Politico.
Wiley wasn’t raped and made no accusation of that crime. It was a woman named Broderick who went public with the rape charge’
Wiley went to see the president about getting a job right after her husband passed away. He merely felt her up some but didn’t rape her.
She didn’t even get the job.
Right after she went public her cat was killed and someone stopped her on the street and told her he knew her address.
I’m not sure if this was before or after he played “Hide the cigar” with Lewinski, but I think it was right at the time he was having telephone sex with her...or was that getting a BJ while he was on the phone with a foreign diplomat? It so hard to keep up.....
This is a prime example of why women should stay at home. Barefoot and pregnant. Doing the chores. Doing the milkman. Ya let em out and they cause all kinds of hate and discontent.

You forgot about the vote. They cannot be trusted with this precious right. My own wife voted for Ostupid despite all the information I supplied to her. I asked only that she read it all before making a decision. She never bothered. When I asked her what was wrong with McCain she said she would never vote for him because, are you ready....drum roll...”He has a bad temper”
Now I stick it to her every chance I get. I mean this in a figurative sense of course. Besides I sure ain’t gettin’ to do it in the literal sense after not letting a day go by without offering up another tidbit to highlight the total failure of the 1st Asshole.
I told her next time I see her near a voting booth I’ll cancel her charge cards.
"I told her next time I see her near a voting booth Ill cancel her charge cards."
At least that not as messy as slugging her or smacking her in the face with a billyclub, eh....
Any comments from female freepers, or do they get a giggle out of you two's comments.?
The Democrats do not want to use these charges in a head to head race between Cain and Obama. Would make them look real bad to black voters. Hey you let Bill Clinton get away with much worse, but wont let a real black man get away with far less ? That is why they are running it now.
Lisa Myers: Did you think his interest in you at the time was personal or professional?
Juanita Broaddrick: I thought it was professional, completely.
Myers: So you thought this was going to be a business meeting?
Broaddrick: Yes I did, I really did.
Myers: Did you have qualms at all about him coming to the room?
Broaddrick: I was a little bit uneasy. But, I felt, ah, a real friendship toward this man and I didnt really feel any, um any danger in him coming to my room. I sort of ushered us over to the coffee I had coffee sitting on a little table over there by the window and it was a real pretty window view that looked down at the river. And he came around me and sort of put his arm over my shoulder to point to this little building and he said he was real interested if he became governor to restore that little building and then all of a sudden, he turned me around and started kissing me. And that was a real shock.
Myers: What did you do?
Broaddrick: I first pushed him away and just told him No, please dont do that, and I forget, its been 21 years, Lisa, and I forget exactly what he was saying. It seems like he was making statements that would relate to Did you not know why I was coming up here? and I told him at the time, I said, Im married, and I have other things going on in my life, and this is something that Im not interested in.
Myers: Had you, that morning, or any other time, given him any reason to believe you might be receptive?
Broaddrick: No. None. None whatsoever.
Myers: Then what happens?
Broaddrick: Then he tries to kiss me again. And the second time he tries to kiss me he starts biting my lip (she cries). Just a minute... He starts to, um, bite on my top lip and I tried to pull away from him. (crying) And then he forces me down on the bed. And I just was very frightened, and I tried to get away from him and I told him No, that I didnt want this to happen (crying) but he wouldnt listen to me.
Myers: Did you resist, did you tell him to stop?
Broaddrick: Yes, I told him Please dont. He was such a different person at that moment, he was just a vicious awful person.
Myers: You said there was a point at which you stopped resisting?
Broaddrick: Yeah.
Myers: Why?
Broaddrick: It was a real panicky, panicky situation. I was even to the point where I was getting very noisy, you know, yelling to Please stop. And thats when he pressed down on my right shoulder and he would bite my lip.
Broaddrick also says the waist of her skirt and her pantyhose were torn.
Juanita Broaddrick: When everything was over with, he got up and straightened himself, and I was crying at the moment and he walks to the door, and calmly puts on his sunglasses. And before he goes out the door he says You better get some ice on that. And he turned and went out the door.
Myers: On your lip?
Broaddrick: Yeah.

I think female freepers are pretty smart. When you present them with IRREFUTABLE TRUTH, they keep their mouths shut.
This was in the mid-1990s, right? These women must have been getting paid about three times as much a year as I was at the time. They must have been some pretty highly skilled professionals.
The program in which Juanita Broaddrick described how she was raped by then-Attorney General of Arkansas Bill Clinton was shown on NBC, but NBC did nothing to promote awareness of the program (as I understand, there was no mention of it on that evening's nightly news). The only notice the New York Times paid to the story as far as I could tell was one story buried in the middle of the first section, below the fold, which was mostly devoted to questioning Broaddrick's credibility.
