A jury has awarded three veteran Los Angeles police detectives $2.5 million in a gender discrimination and retaliation lawsuit against their supervisors.
The verdict, delivered Friday after only a few hours of deliberation, is the latest in a long string of costly lawsuits brought by LAPD officers against fellow cops and supervisors for retaliation, harassment and other workplace abuses.

Evidently the jury agreed that she was guilty gender bias. The Chief should bust her back to patrol officer and let her patrol in East L.A. for a few years to remind her that a lot of good cops get passed over for promotion so that "gender bias" cops can get promoted.
Harassment Claims, discrimination claims, etc., need to go to those INDIVIDUALS who are guilty, NOT THE DEEP POCKETS OF THEIR EMPLOYER, and without Tort reform, we'll never stop the Litigation Lotto games.
Just what is the height requirement for our LAPD? To me it looks like maybe it is 5 feet or the ability to see over the steering wheel.
“To me it looks like maybe it is 5 feet or the ability to see over the steering wheel.”
I’m sure that for the proper “politically correct” applicant, they would allow a booster seat. There is a shortage of black transgendered height challenged applicants.
Which leaves each officer with $300,000.00. Then the city, county, state and federal governments extract their “fair share” and the three officers are left with something like $.50 and the satisfaction of receiving just compensation for the discrimination they were put through. it ain't called the "Just-us" system for nothing.
"Out there you'll have a partner. If you get blown away, he'll get blown away, too. That's
some price to pay for being stylish."
That is the major flaw here. Police managers are well trained in the rules of harassment and should know better. Thus, the supervisors who knowingly engage in discrimination should be personally liable. Instead, the jurors take the easy way out and punish the city.
I believe that there is no height requirement anymore.
It was a fun movie is some respects. Harry’s questioning of potential inspectors was a riot.
