WASHINGTON (AP) -- Pushing a campaign to act without Congress, President Barack Obama moved unilaterally Friday to boost private business.
He signed executive orders aimed at spurring economic growth, capping a week in which Obama sought to employ the power of his office as he struggles to make headway on his jobs bill on Capitol Hill.
Obama's orders direct government agencies to shorten the time it takes for federal research to turn into commercial products in the marketplace. The goal is to help startup companies and small businesses create jobs and expand their operations more quickly.
On the other front, Obama called for creation of a centralized online site, to be known as BusinessUSA, for companies to easily find information on federal services. The site, a recommendation of the president's jobs council, is to be up and running within 90 days and will be designed with input from U.S. businesses.

Federal research.
Because the Government does stuff better.
Good grief! That's, what? 0.1% of GDP???? (It was higher in Mussolini's Italy for sure!) It he thinks that federal research translates into any significant proportion of the US economy, he's still on drugs. If he's not on drugs, he needs some.
You know, when Obama was elected we curbed our operations preparing for the eventual ‘storm’. It’s a good thing we did, too.
It’s times like these I look for a ray of sunshine to come through the clouds, but alas, it’s always the same. They say, ‘Come on in. The water’s fine.’ But I know different.

This sure sounds like yet another way to expand the Federal Government and give it more power to promote and control the businesses is deems important to America (green jobs, for example). It sets up yet another redundant and unnecessary government agency that will have the power to decide what businesses qualify for federal help. As a direct consequence of all this increased federal assistance to the private sector, the feds will have to hire more people to do the assisting and the monitoring, no doubt resulting in the expansion of other federal services. It’s all just a scheme to grow the Federal Government and to have total control over what is produced, by whom and by how much. It is also Obama’s third executive order since last Friday.
Another Brilliant Fail To Come. What a poor excuse for a President.
Meaning, to find information on what regulations they have to comply with this week?
Good post! I think you’re absolutely right.
I wonder how many more Executive Orders he’s going to sign before election day? Our few conservative congressmen should be making a lot of noise about these EOs. There aren’t a lot of microphones available for them, but there are still a few...for now.
I have to correct some misinformation in my post. This was not an executive order, but rather an executive action. It still is a grab for more federal power.
Dear Mr. Obama,
PLEASE STOP “HELPING”!!!!!
Your “helping business succeed” is like Doby “helping” Harry Potter.
This was not an executive order, but rather an executive action. It still is a grab for more federal power.””
Can you please clarify the difference???
