Texas Gov. Rick Perry has come out against the marketing of a Confederate license plate in his state, an issue that could come up again in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
As the Austin American Statesman's Jason Embry reports, the plate has been proposed by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, an ancestral history group that has been involved in litigation to display the Confederate flag in state buildings and on monuments around the country.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles board has been considering the application for months. In April, the board deadlocked in a four-to-four vote on the plate, with another vote scheduled for next month.
On Wednesday, Perry broke his silence on the issue and said in an interview with the St. Petersburg Times and Tampa's Bay 9 News that he opposes the measurean opinion that could very well shape the vote since the DMV board are all Perry appointees.
"That's just a part of history . . . . You don't need to scrape that wound again," Perry said. "It just doesn't need to happen."

Yeh the Stars and Bars might conflict with the Reconquista plate.
Who thought that? Every day brings new opportunity for Perry to lower his poll numbers even further.
At his highest he was at 31.8%. he's not at 10.5% and will soon be in single digits and polling lower than both Newt and that moron Ron Paul.
At this point it is clear - Perry supports the illegals, he does not honor our ancestors.

Not one iota!
Whatever the case,he is dead to me as a supposed "conservative'.
Maybe it's a simple case of, "Once a DEMOCRAT, ALWAYS a DemonRAT".
Grow a pair, Ricardo, and tell her you are your own man and don't need her running commentary in your run for office.
If he’s dead to you, then why even bother posting on any threads regarding him? That’s rather ghoulish, feeding on the dead like that.
Pay attention much?
This idiocy just might finish him off. As it should.
I think that the Confederate Flag is the least of Sanford’s worries!
If you mean Herman Cain, I'll bet that he respects the Confederate Flag.
Want another schnitzel?
Terminal “foot=in-mouth “ disease : )
I am in my early 60’s having been immersed in media broadcasts and movies for most of those years....I saw on a regular basis, depictions of sons, grandsons and great grandsons of confederate soldiers brandishing the battle flag. It never appeared as racist to me....only reverence for the living and dead veterans of the conflict....a conflict that some observers feel was a failure of Federal Govt to follow the constitution in regard to states rights...and our beloved declaration of independence.
Much of the time the flag was used in the media was in comedy shows.
my favorite being “the Dukes of Hazard” and not for the writing or acting...but for the vision of Daisey Duke leaning against the battle-flag draped General Lee wearing her signature shorts...
Blacks need to get a life in regard to the battle flag especially with the first black president and soon to be a second black president (’my candidate is blacker than yours’) making headway to winning the republican nomination.....You guys won your battle for recognition...now go to work...get a job....stop being baby daddies etc, and start to follow the example of men like Herman Cain or Colonel West
as for Rick Perry? he needed to ignore the hoopla and let the Tejas DMV deal with the issue without his input.
