This is really amazing and could help revitalize some of the closed paper processing facilities across the nation.

Scientists at the University of Maine have invented a simple two-step way to turn wood and even garbage into fuel, that could power your car and heat your home.

I've already got a two step process to heat my home with wood.

1) Load wood into furnace.
2) Ignite wood.

Really? How can Joe Biden unlock new energy possibilities?

Naw.....I went out and tried to put some sticks into my car’s gas tank. They won’t go in.

OK, I’ll admit it. This looks pretty cool. I wonder if it is more cost effective than burning ethonol from corn.

Very impressive. I hope the new process can be made cost-efficient when they scale it up.

Americans knew how to build wood burning gasification units to power gasoline farm equipment and cars back in WW2. Its not that hard if you can weld. The tech works and its proven.

Germany, in WWI when it was blockaded by the British fleet and couldn’t get oil, ran cars and trucks on stoves that gasified wood so it would run the engines. The Nazis did the same towards the end of WWII when their source of Romanian oil was blocked. Has America come that point of energy disaster? I think not if we drill baby drill.

that could power your car

It could? I could fly if I had wings.
Let me know when you actually have a pellet car for sale. It better be less than 40k. Actually, MUCH LESS than 40k or forget it.

Several years ago I heard that millions of dollars were going to various companies to make ethanol from organce peal waste, lumber yard wast and half a dozen other sources. Is this one of those projects, and does anyone know whatever happened on the others?

During WWII wood was used to make charcoal and was used directly to power all sorts of engines. It is a lot of work and takes time. Wouldn't the simple solution be to drill for oil and be done with it?

It won't do much for the paper mills even though it is a good way to get rid of wastes. But cellulose waste can also be reduced to a char and used like a fertilizer.

So it is an interesting process but the drilling rigs aren't going to slow down because of it.

I believe wood has about 1/3 the gross btu content per equal weight of crude oil.

Treat dead wood with that little blue pill and watch the energy that’s generated!
