SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. — Gov. Rick Perry of Texas is taking significant steps to redefine his candidacy as his battle for the Republican nomination intensifies, including unveiling a tax overhaul plan that would give people the option of paying a 20 percent flat tax on income.

.........Among the new faces who are joining Mr. Perry’s campaign is Joe M. Allbaugh, who managed the 2000 presidential race of George W. Bush and will be a senior adviser to the campaign. Mr. Allbaugh served as a director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the Bush administration and has been a longtime associate of Mr. Perry.

Tony Fabrizio, the pollster in Bob Dole’s 1996 campaign and in a variety of other races, also will join the campaign as a senior adviser. Stanton Anderson, who served as the general counsel to Ronald Reagan’s 1980 campaign, will be the campaign’s liaison with Congress. Fred Maas will be a senior adviser.

Mr. Perry’s media strategy will be directed by a team that will now include Curt Anderson, Jim Innocenzi and Nelson Warfield. The men have worked on national campaigns and have been deeply involved in the advertising effort that is set to begin this week.

Mr. Perry’s aides have indicated that the ad campaign is imminent; they have been hinting for some time that it would begin this week or next.

Texas (along with some other state attorneys general) supported AZ's legal problems with the Feds.

Arizona and Alabama have taken action, why can’t Perry? Because he doesn’t want to!

Arizona and Alabama are both tied up with the law because of the interfering courts. AND niether Arizona nor Alabama has the billions to spend on the border that Texas has spent. There is also a huge difference between the border in Texas (a river) and the border in Arizona (flat land) and as a desert state Arizona recognizes that no state would give up water rights to Mexico.

Not true. I don’t know where this myth got started that Obama is some great debater. He’s not. In fact, he’s pretty sub-par in any format without his teleprompter. McCain got the better of him in all 3 debates in 2008, it’s just that the debates didn’t matter much because of the financial crisis-the people had pretty much made up their minds.

And if you remember before that, Hillary schooled him pretty badly in the last couple debates they had, prompting Obama to refuse to do any more as the primary campaign was winding down.

Don’t fall for this notion that Obama is some great debater-he’s nowhere close to that. Any of our candidates will do just fine against him-and Newt would run circles around him.

It’s not the Governor’s job to “secure the border,” but he’s worked to do so.
It is the President’s and the Federal government’s job to secure the border. President Perry will make Section 287(g) work, he will ensure that the border is patrolled, and he will not sue states that dare to exercise their 10th Amendment rights.

Perry has had to deal with an international border that was suppose to be secured by the Federal Government on behalf of all the United States.

Perry has had to deal with Obama Administration that does nothing - except send troops to other countries.

Perry has had to deal with a United States Government that is corrupt and has committed treasonous crimes by running guns into Mexico to criminal drug cartels.

Perry has had to deal with a Supreme Court order that we educate illegals.

Perry has had to deal with a Homeland Security and ICE that will not punish violators, will not deport violators but instead puts them right back on the streets.

It is a fact that the in-state tuition law does not cost Texans one dime. It certainly does not cost US Taxpayers anything. In fact, if the law was reversed today, Texas Universities would lose over 10 million dollars.

Perry took over as Governor in 2001 when Bush was elected President. He had been in office for 4 months when the Texas Legislature voted on this bill. Perry could not have changed the law whether he was for or against.

So if after knowing the facts, you still have a problem with Perry, vote for someone else.

Vote for someone who has dealt with illegal immigration and who have dealt with a border that has not been secured by the Federal Government.

Vote for someone who has fought tooth and nail with Obama for 3 years.

Vote for someone who says things like they are going to build a 1200 mile fence that they know NOTHING about.

Vote for someone that says they are going to build something that would take 10-15 years to build, cost billions and electrify it so that it kills people.

Vote for someone that says they going to build a 1200 mile fence over a river, cliffs, mountains, huge lakes and American’s private property.

Vote for someone who says giving 12 to 16K kids a break of few hundred dollars (yea, I know what Romney said and that dog don’t hunt because the majority of those kids are going to community colleges) that NO ONE not even Texas Taxpayers pay a dime for!

Don’t vote for someone who could not have changed that law due to a majority vote by a legislature. It is something that Texas decide - not anyone else - it is a STATE ISSUE.
Perry stated that this would not be a Federal law under his Presidency. With the border secured - it becomes immaterial anyway.

Perry has pushed laws in the legislature but our legislature are afraid they will step on their hispanic votes and will not pass them.

Perry tried to get the sanctuary city law passed, he specified that it was an emergency bill and when our legislature did not pass it, he called a special session and put it right back on the table for them to consider.
They still did not pass it (they will soon be up for election).

Our legislature only convenes every two years.

Vote for one of the other candidates that have actual experience and have handled the border problems themselves with the Federal Government tying their hands behind their backs.

Vote for someone who will say anything they think you want to hear just to get your vote.

Perry, Texans and Texas did not INVITE the illegals into our state. They cost us lots and lots of money and we know it but our hands are tied by the Federal Government who refuse to do their job, who run guns to the drug cartels, who make laws mandating that we pay for the illegals education that they refuse to keep out of our state and that they refuse to deport.

As Texans: we have no income tax. We have a Governor we like and that is why we keep electing him. His policies have created an environment that results in a better standard of life with as little regulations as he can maintain for us, low taxes, less scum attorneys that were driving costs up.

We deal with the illegal immigrant problem as best we can considering we are fighting at both ends: The Federal Government on our backs and the drug war on the border. With our own money and our own manpower.

We take shit from the Feds every single day of every single week of every single month of every single year.

Yet we still are still the #1 economy in the United States.

Vote for a candidate for President that has been a part of something even close to that.

Perry's Problematic Pals August 15, 2011 By Pamela Geller

Texas Governor Rick Perry announced Saturday that he is going to seek the Republican nomination for President, and in his speech declaring his candidacy, he sounded great: "we reject this President's unbridled fixation on taking more money out of the wallets and pocketbooks of American families and employers and giving it to a central government," Perry said. "'Spreading the wealth' punishes success while setting America on course to greater dependency on government. Washington's insatiable desire to spend our children's inheritance on failed 'stimulus' plans and other misguided economic theories have given us record debt and left us with far too many unemployed."

Perry promises to fix all that: "We'll create jobs. We'll get America working again. We'll create jobs and we'll build wealth, we'll truly educate and innovate in science, and in technology, engineering and math. We'll create the jobs and the progress needed to get America working again."

Sounds good. But Perry has been sucked into the propaganda vortex, and is now wielding his enormous power to influence changes in the schoolrooms and in the curricula to reflect a sharia compliant version of Islam. He is a friend of the Aga Khan, the multimillionaire head of the Ismailis, a Shi'ite sect of Islam that today proclaims its nonviolence but in ages past was the sect that gave rise to the Assassins. Perry has concluded at least two cooperation agreements between the state of Texas and the Ismailis, including a comprehensive program to feed children in Texas public schools and taqiyya nonsense about how Islam is a religion of peace. Another agreement stipulates that Texas officials will work with the Ismailis in the "fields of education, health sciences, natural disaster preparedness and recovery, culture and the environment." Perry let on that this was all about whitewashing Islam's bloody historical and modern-day record: "traditional Western education speaks little of the influence of Muslim scientists, scholars, throughout history, and for that matter the cultural treasures that stand today in testament to their wisdom."

It gets worse. Last March, Perry gave a speech in Dallas in the company of Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform. Norquist was close to George W. Bush, and Perry's anti-tax, anti-Big Government rhetoric sounds like it's right out of Norquist's playbook. But there is a dark side to Norquist as well: Norquist's ties to Islamic supremacists and jihadists have been known for years. He and his Palestinian wife, Samah Alrayyes -- who was director of communications for his Islamic Free Market Institute until they married in 2005 -- are very active in "Muslim outreach." Six weeks after 9/11, The New Republic ran an exposé explaining how Norquist arranged for George W. Bush to meet with fifteen Islamic supremacists at the White House on September 26, 2001 -- to show how Muslims rejected terrorism.

The only problem was that the ones with Bush didn't. To Bush's left sat Dr. Yahya Basha, president of the American Muslim Council, an organization whose leaders have repeatedly called Hamas "freedom fighters." Also in attendance was Salam Al-Marayati, executive director of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, who on the afternoon of September 11 told a Los Angeles public radio audience that "we should put the State of Israel on the suspect list." And sitting right next to President Bush was Muzammil Siddiqi, president of the Hamas-linked Islamic Society of North America, who once told a Muslim crowd chanting pro-Hezbollah slogans that ,b>"America has to learn if you remain on the side of injustice, the wrath of God will come."

It was Norquist who ushered these silver-tongued jihadists into the Oval Office of an incurious president after the worst attack ever on American soil. Yet in December 2003, David Horowitz wrote that Norquist "has formed alliances with prominent Islamic radicals who have ties to the Saudis and to Libya and to Palestine Islamic Jihad, and who are now under indictment by U.S. authorities. Equally troubling is that the arrests of these individuals and their exposure as agents of terrorism have not resulted in noticeable second thoughts on Grover's part or any meaningful effort to dissociate himself from his unsavory friends." Nor has Norquist changed course since then.

Grover Norquist was on the Islamic payroll before and after the carnage of September 11. Gaffney revealed Norquist's close ties to Abdurahman Alamoudi, who is now serving time in prison for financing jihad activity. In 2000, Alamoudi said at a rally, "I have been labeled by the media in New York to be a supporter of Hamas. Anybody support Hamas here? ... Hear that, Bill Clinton? We are all supporters of Hamas. I wished they added that I am also a supporter of Hezb'allah." Alamoudi was at that time head of the now-defunct "moderate" group known as American Muslim Council (AMC), and he was active in other Muslim groups in the U.S. that showed sympathy to or support for jihadists. And Alamoudi gave $50,000 to the lobbying group Janus-Merritt Strategies, which Norquist co-founded. Alamoudi also helped found Norquist's Islamic Institute with a $10,000 loan and a gift of another $10,000.

It was bad enough that Bush was close to Norquist. There is no way the GOP can again nominate anyone who is so completely and utterly clueless about the fifth column within. Ten years after 9/11, can't we nominate someone who can speak to the ominous threat posed by Islamic supremacists in this country? There are no secrets here, even if the stealth jihad is covert and sneaky. We know what they are doing.
