A bill that would allow U.S. Border Patrol officials to flout environmental laws along the southern and northern U.S. borders may soon be heading to the House, according to news reports.
Designed by House Republicans to beef up national security, the bill would grant Border Patrol officials authority to disregard 36 environmental laws on federal land along the Canadian and Mexican borders, according to news reports. Those laws include the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Air Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act and 33 other federal laws in a variety of protected land, according to the reports.
The plan would leave Border Patrol officials free to build roads and offices, erect fences, set up sensors and surveillance gear and operate aircraft and vehicles to patrol in national parks, forests and protected federal land along a 100-mile border zone, according to news outlets.

Environmental laws are one of the Left’s favorite tools to impede the Border Patrol. One of their favorites is that a fence will impede animal migration. In many places the BP operates under bizarre environmental restrictions that make their jobs even more dangerous.
The greens, of course, pretend complete obliviousness to the mountains of trash and feces, as well as the brushfires the illegals leave in their wake.

Oh, I don't think that those areas are in much danger of being destroyed by the Border Patrol enforcing laws.
Sounds more like it lets them out of the bureaucratric straight jacket that hamstrings their success.
The author of the article, Cindy Carcamo, is a pro-ILLEGAL alien liberal.
Exempt the Border Patrol from those laws when all of us are exempted from those laws. Screw serfdom.
Note that NOWHERE in the article is the bill number revealed.
If we knew the bill number it would be simpler to offer our support.
If anyone knows the bill number please post it.
Laws for thee, not for me.
“Olympic National Park”? Give me a break. What are those sneaky Canucks going to do? Swim across the Juan de Fuca Strait? Maybe that’s a serious problem and I’m just behind the times on these things.
Seriously, what a retarded liberal authoress.
So is the head lesbo buried in a communist plot?
The entire key to breaking the left is gutting the enviro movement. If the average person would look into the Trillions of dollars and national security concerns the left cost America annually, say nothing of the loss of personal end economic freedom, they would riot.
Enviro laws are the big hammer that nails all attempts at energy independence, business expansion and border and warfighting security. Period.
Just look into what the BP and military go through. Look up Pendelton and the crap on that one base ALONE that the enviro/left has wreaked. One on THOUSANDS of examples. Pacific northwest logging, spotted owl, Adirondack blue line, and on and on and on...
It is no exaggeration to say the new communism is green, not red. But people want to think they are all well meaning hippies.
Read State of Fear my Michael Chrichton. It is closer to reality than anyone wants to believe.

“A bill that would allow U.S. Border Patrol officials to flout environmental laws.........”
I started chuckling when my eye crossed the word “flout” as I started reading the article. THAT word usage was an immediate tip off to the author’s position on illegal immigration.
She could have used any number of other words that would have meant what the law is actually intended to remedy, but as she’s obviously a Leftist in Illegal Immigration perspective she used “flout” to portray the legislation, and the Border Patrol in a frivolous manner.

My pleasure. Been a little scant on articles lately; especially about Fast & Furious.
Isn't that the whole point of building it?
What is really funny about this situation is years ago there was a right of way on the border- for the purpose of patroling the border. There were horseback riders hired by the government to keep Mexican cattle out since they had some sort of tick disease issue. There were also Border Patrol, and later Customs Patrol Officers all patrolling the actual border. During the Carter administration they decided all those people on the border were not needed and did away with many of the programs and moved Border Patrol off the border thinking they could just patrol major roads near the border instead. This is what has brought us to where we are now, no administration has made major changes until “we the people” forced President Bush to do some things to strengthen the border.
The right of way for patrolling the border was turned over to the Dept. of Interior when it was no longer used to patrol the border and in most areas the BLM is in charge of that strip which in many areas is grassed over and looks like part of a ranch- and used that way in many areas.
In recent years when the BP tried to build dirt roads along the border so they could patrol the actual border again and the BLM in many areas would not let them do it for environmental reasons. In some areas where they do patrol the border the CBP agency has to PAY the BLM or Interior for environmental “damage” to the area. Yes they actually write a check from one agency to the other for doing what the land was intended for to begin with.
